I'm seeing "monthly residency" on the site...

Ahhhh I am so torn between going to see Armin or going to see the opening night of Sasha's residency :(
I'm getting these livesets right now to find out more about Sasha's style:
Sasha Live at Play FM 03-09-05
Sasha Dance Department (radio 538) 11-06-2005
Sasha in Sessions (Maxima FM) 12-25-2005
Sasha Live at DJ Times of the Month 08-12-2005
I really don't know I think this might have to end up in a cointoss :) |
dance department and maxima are re-aired sets from something else, they might even be the same set, can't remember, and that live at dj times set ain't sasha. |

Or like the millions of different sub-genres of trance and techno? Anyway, Sasha plays prog trance and prog house and electro. Boring after 3+ hours, end of discussion. :) |

he never spins the same thing twice. let's put it that way. each time in ny it's been a different experience with him, so you can't pin down what he might drop at any moment. house, electro, breaks, progressive house, whatever, it makes you dance. |
Yea. He's got so much to choose from on that mac :D |

And come on...Armin? I loved him in 2003, 2004, he played amazing trance...but now he plays a lot of this fluffy non-sense epic trance (i don't know how to call it) which has no vibe in it. The same sound with no energy, and a lot songs seems to be similar.
I loved almost every ASOT from old years but now i find 1-3 good songs in the set. Other songs are just ok, but i never mind to listem them again. |
Question: I've seen this in some forums lately. Shouldn't people blame the producers who first make this fluffy productions? Then People like Armin wouldn't take a liking to them and wouldnt be playing them. Same thing for PvD. I was with Jay when I heard a PvD set back in 2000. It was just a constant flow of great energy. None of it was fluff. But Trance productions changed over the last 4+ years. I dunno. Maybe we can still be hearing PvD - Columbia today if these young dudes didn't produce fluff.
And I'm going to both events in case anyone is asking :D |

You are right that Beunos aires set was very average. It looked great on the clip but the set is nothing special. The same with Fundacion album.
But how can be the Xpander the only good stuff from Sasha?
Did you hear Wavy Gravy or Magnetic North, Cloud Cuckoo, Scorchio, Motorola? Listen to it on a good sound system...
Sorry for my bad English :p [/QUOTE]
Na its good English ;) , and Yea people told me Wavy Gravy Is his best song so I got it and I played it and I didn't find it to be a Hot Song like Xpander is :D im gonna check out those Other Tunes you Posted . I just Don't Find his Live Sets to be crazy , can't get into his Style of music  |

You are absolutely right. There is huge problem in production and i can rarely find something interesting in Trance.
The same problem was with PvD for long time, when he was playing a lot of :/.
But lately PvD is playing a lot good stuff. Really, and i'm very glad to hear some new good trance songs :)
I like Armin too, he is a great DJ but ... i don't know, it seems that he is lost in that fluffy trance.
Groundhog Boy, I would definetly go to see both of them if i were there. Whether you go it will be great night.
And as someone wrote, when you are more familiar to trance music go to see Armin, because you have no idea what Sasha is playing.
But I'm sure Sasha will make great night, and it could be completely new experience for you. |
