no? lol. wow, so much for stereotypes. Since sweden has it's share of rich people i could say the same about you. If you're going to tell me that corruption escapes your society you're in denial. Furthermore, i'll ignore the fact that you said "most" people in colleges are idiots cause that just makes you look like a caveman, but the ones that are are that way because of poor public school education.

The general trend, as was originally pointed out by the creator of this thread, is that Americans are supposed to somehow feel ashamed about being American. It begs the question; "How many Europeans are ashamed of the country they come from?" There are plenty of European contries with a sordid history. See, just because so many foreigners hate the American Government, it has nothing to do with, and should have no direct reflection upon, all Americans. We don't agree all the time with everything our Government does. Even when Clinton was in office (whom I detest), I was never ashamed to be an American...why should I be?
So, my fellow Americans, a lot of this anger directed at us from Euro foreigners is, imho, simple jelaousy. But this country was founded by these Euro foreigners, built on hard work=good pay and true freedom from class structure. And just like all modern-day jealous Euro foreigners, give them a chance to live here and make a bundle and they'd be on the next plane tomorrow.
Stop whining about how much better you are then Americans, people...because you're really not. ;) |

^^^Yes, EU countries often have better socialists systems, along with all the benefits that go with being socialist...and all the pit-falls. The problem I've heard time and again from most Europeans is that they are still stuck, to a large degree, in a class structure, with limited opportunities.
The American cliche', on the other hand, of being able to make of yourself whatever you please with hard work and ingenuity, is still true. In this country, the sky really is the limit! And this country isn't concerned with your color, your religion, your race or your sex...anyone can be anything they want to be...it's all up to you.
It's still the greatest country on earth, on the whole...and I'll take our system over socialism any day. :D |

what I meant is that in Sweden, the school doesnt cost anything not even the University. The only things you have to pay is for the education materials :)
The system is that you have to have good grades to get into the schools and programs, the better schools you wont even come in even if you got the best grades in all the subject's that you had. It doesnt matter if your dad got millions and millions in cash, if you dont got the grades you wont come anywere :o
I apologize if I generalized the whole US when I said most ppl :p After 1 ½ years at Southampton College, Long Island NY, I can say that on that area its true.
When I first got there I wondered how in hell they could get into this school :D. They even said it themself that the only reason that they are there is because their parents have paid alot to the school. I read International Economy btw , witch was really nice but I got bored of it, I didnt like the soo called student life there soo I dropped out and gonna study here in Sweden instead. Thank God that I didnt have to pay anything for the school, amen for scholarship's :wtf:
but the main part is that you can't compare America and Europe, we're to different cultures and in Europe each country got their own culture soo comparing America and Europe is just stupid imo :tongue2

Nou, I'm sure your definition of Socialism and mine are quite different. Just because they don't call it "Socialsim" in some countries, doesn't mean it's not.
Hell, Socialism is basically what the Democrats in this country want! But you'll never hear one of them call it "Socialism" outright.
