Right. All Americans are like this. :o

Maybe it's just the people YOU are hanging around.;)

i can't believe people from California are defending the people of this country. are you guys serious? i would think you guys would understand what i'm saying...

what is so great about the american people? honestly...i'd love to hear it. are we really this community full of brotherly love? no.

did i say all people are like that? no...i said the majority.

i'll write more when i get back this afternoon...because i have a lot to say...

^^^Well we're all waiting with heightened anticipation, I'm sure.

I've lived in other parts of this country, and there are great people everywhere you go, and there are a-holes everywhere you go...just like any other part of the world.

I'm telling you; It's the people you're hanging around...you attract what you are. Change yourself and you'll change who you attract............................either that, or kindly just shut it and move the Domincan Republic already.:D

Have you even traveled overseas? If you've spent your entire life in the US then it's no surprise your worldview is what it is... I'm not saying Europe is "better" or America is "better" but your pep talk is really getting old.

people...because you're really not. ;)

I agree with you but there are some things where Europeans outshine Americans. For example music (since you're on a trance board), food, and women. Europeans are also much less religious and this makes general life much more enjoyable and liberal.

And another thing, Europeans party a lot more than Americans.

i'm sorry if i'm confused, but what does the people i hang around have to do with what we're talking about in this thread. have i said anything in this thread that would suggest that i think the people i let into my life reflect what i'm talking about? i don't think i have. if anything people that i spend time with and enjoy are perfect examples of what i think people should be like in this country.

this thread has nothing to do with your personal friends and relationships either, it has to do with the general state of the united states public.

do i really need to go and dig up some census numbers to say that the general population of the united states is uneducated and obese? i hope not. is it a big suprise that the people in this country are ego-centric? no not really.

i just don't see what all the americans are so offended by. do these things reflect on your personally? not really. only the things you say and the way in which you present yourself whether we're talking about real life or the internet can tell us for sure. that's what people's perceptions of this country are based off.

^^^Your perception of Americans as self-centered I guarantee you has more to do with a personal problem you have than it does with facts.

I think you're projecting. And I stand by my previous statements about what I think your problem is. Are there a lot of narcisists in our country? Sure...but we don't have a monopoly on it.

What i think of portuguese people is that they're generally lazy, without ambitions in life, very pessimistic, and care way too much about what foreigners think of their country. Also, I feel I perfectly fit into this stereotype. Now does this make me a guilt-ridden leftist who's ashamed of being portuguese? :conf:

^^^Maybe. :haha:

well i think it would be better for you to make statements about a society you live in, since atleast you have that experience, instead of trying to do psychoanalysis on someone you've never met or talked to.

are we the only country that has an ego-centric viewpoint...no of course not. are we the worst? you could probably argue either side, but have i mentioned any other countries in this thread? nope. i'm just talking about america...i think all of the things that i've said are rather well accepted so i don't really see what you're contesting.

the united states has a population that generally does not know or care about what's going on in the rest of the world.

other countries in the world have their opinion of the US because they actually follow the news of our country and form opinions of it based on that information. is their bias in those perceptions of america? yes, but americans form their opinions of other countries based off their sense of superiority instead of actually knowing anything about them.

Conservatives generally follow this arrangement becuase they are the type of people that grow up secluded, in an American community, witht the white picket fense, and aren't really exposed to the world. Their world ends where they want it to end, becuase anything else would threaten their way of life, and to protect it, they don't want to concern themseleves with anything. I know this becuase my unkle is exactly like this. Unwilling to even listen to any other views.

People who have been exposed to more things than their secluded, American lives, tend to be more liberal, more open to wanting to help others, and are not so threatened by difference.

I see this everytime I go to Mexico, they know what's going on in the world, they are more open to everything and generally have a consceince outside their own lives. This is how the rest of the world is.

A lot of Americans don't share this quality, and this is why Americans have such a b ad image attributed to them.
