I think that there is a big difference between Europeans and Americans, in the way both of these people see life. Lets take Europe for example. Well everyone talks about Europe as one big whole happy continent, but its quite the opposite. Throughout history Europeans have always fought among them, and still in present days, are doing just the same. I do agree that Europeans are very civilized people, if not the most civilized in all of the world, just because of their rich and ancient culture, which are the foundations of this world, and the foundation of our current world superpower, the USA. Now, all of this thread proves that the thread starter is right, nothing but bashing, rather then giving intelligent responses, but responses such, they see America through the media, and I cant help it but notice that a few Americans in here are actually bashing their own country as well. The way I see it sometimes is that a lot of Europeans that come on this board are intelligent Europeans that can actually afford a computer, but not taking in consideration that million of poor Europeans that cant afford to give their families food. But in American, almost everyone can afford a computer, because of our economy and the way of our lifestyle. I personally do not think that America should be compared with any other country in the world. I think there are a few countries that come somewhat close to being compared, but even with those, we shouldnt. To a normal hardworking American, politics or whatever goes on in this world could mean nothing, or to a lower-class American, a southern redneck for example, wouldnt even give a what goes on in America. When, in Europe, working class men, go into cafes and talk about politics and waste their life on that. Most Europeans seem to look at America as a cowboy nation, just because the president is from Texas. Also, why blame the president for everything? At least our presidents have done something about this world, helped it, made it a better place. Everyone seems to blame Bush for all of Americas problems, and seems to hate his foreign policies. Well, dont worry, he will leave one day, and a democrat will come, and Europeans will like us again, and then a republican will come and have stronger policies. Thats what makes America so great. We dont rely on the government to control our lifes, it changes once every 4 years or 8, and you hardly see a difference, the people that actually see a difference, are whiners that bitch about anything in this world, they arent happy with what they have. Getting back at the European and American differences, as I mentioned, Europe seems to fight with itself. We, the USA, dont have that problem, we are a united nation and bigger then Europe in its size (if Im not mistaken). I think a lot of Europeans do not know good Americans, they just assume they are arrogant just because they think they are. I dont think Americans are arrogant at all. I personally love Europe, love its people, have friends from Europe. I visit it once a while. Maybe thats because I was born there and spent a great amount of my life. I came to America and love it as much if not more then Europe. Everyone seems to put their political agendas before they even get to know the person. I hate European politics, I think they are full of , but that doesnt stop me from talking to my friends and calling them stupid. The US lives a different type of life, its more different then that of Europeans, but that doesnt mean its wrong. I hope anyone can seem to understand what Im trying to deliver. |

The thing is, it goes all ways, nobody can see that though, leaving it with the ancient 'our lot vs theirs' group that is ruining the world, be it through nationality, religion or whatever. |

It's envy. We have everything. Everything good comes from here. All the movies they watch, the good tv (not thier local crap programming), all the good music (except trance), all the inventions in their house (TV, phone, light bulb, car, microwave)
Then they like to call Americans stupid and lazy when we work longer than any European country. We don't take 2 month vacations and close everything down at 4pm.
If Americans are so stupid then what the hell so great is coming out of Finland? Netherlands? Poland? Germany? Switzerland?
Get over it. Don't be such a hater. |
what should we cant envy about ? ive never get that. Ive been in US 1 time, my brother went to college there, Southhampton, Long Island, I liked NY, but I didnt really like the other stuff, food sucked, the fashion of clothes was really weird, but there was some good stuff thou :) , but ive only been in NY soo I cant really generalize the whole america because of that, I wish to go back but my brother dropped out cause he hated everything with US heh :p
But as a comment to your post:
Yeah some good movies comes from US, but most is uther , most movies is directed by non americans. I dont see how you can brag with your soo called good TV show's hah :D yeah you had Friends, but wtf can you say that is soo damn with stuff such, OC, Bold and the Beautiful, Sunset Beach, IR. etc. I cant really say that there is any reason to brag about them  .
What good in music way do you got ? everytime I check the american toplists there is only hip hop, rnb & teen pop wannabepunk groups such Simpel Plan, Good Charlotte...etc etc. US is the world leading country in music way, I can agree on that, UK is on the second place, and SWEDEN ! is on third (with only 9 Million ppl living here), thats pretty sweet, many of the world famous artist from US have been done by swedish songwriters and producer :)
"Then they like to call Americans stupid and lazy when we work longer than any European country. We don't take 2 month vacations and close everything down at 4pm."
Now, I dont understand were uve found that fact :nervous:
Cause here in Sweden, most ppl work 8-16, the stores closes all from 18:00-22:00. And the average swedish worker got 4-5 weeks vacation on one year.
If Americans are so stupid then what the hell so great is coming out of Finland? Netherlands? Poland? Germany? Switzerland?
Like most people forgot, AMERICA WERE FOUNDED BY EUROPEANS and mainly MOST AMERICANS IS ORIGINALLY FROM EUROPE from the beginning...if it wasnt for us, there wouldnt be any US at all,,, ah very bad english from me but I dont care, im swedish
:wtf: |

Having 2 million people of working age who are the most likely to be unemployed in prision probebly helps thouse figures...
Higher education? How so?
Stable Economy you mean high national debt?
And as for saying europe is worse for gun culture... pffft come on lets keep it serious shall we?
EDIT: To demonstrate a few points at once:

Having countries with over 10 % unmployed is what I mean. National debt isn't really murdering the dollar since most trade is still done in dollars, ain't it ;)? Yeah I am keeping it serious many countries in Europe are born with an AK-47. Which part of former Yugoslavia didn't you get?

Did you see the report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (in Paris) that was just released? It was summarized in the Sunday paper. It claims that accounting for income, prices and taxes, people in the USA are better off than those anywhere else except Luxembourg. They rate Luxembourg at 130, USA 120, Switzerland 115, Japan 108, with Belgium and Norway tied at 106. Germany is 102 and Italy 101.
Their numbers are units on a scale of 0 to 200 and are only meaningful relative to each other. But they claim almost all Europeans have a harder time making ends meet than Americans do. It is good to keep things in perspective.
taking from big issue ground...not something i made up ;) |
