Europe is made up of alot of different countries, even Europe it'self is open to a few differnt definitions (i.e. is the union or whatever). But to say such genralising comments as "Jobs, oppurtunities, rewards, higher education, more prosperous careers, stable economy" which prosumably were targeting the whole of Europe in a genral sence when you obviously haven't done any research on it aside from watching Fox seems foolish.

And then when you get questioned on it, to give an example, all of a sudden Yugoslavia is indicative of the gun culture of the whole of Europe now even if this still was a country (which it isn't....) it still wouldn't do that.

Did you see the report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (in Paris) that was just released? It was summarized in the Sunday paper. It claims that accounting for income, prices and taxes, people in the USA are better off than those anywhere else except Luxembourg. They rate Luxembourg at 130, USA 120, Switzerland 115, Japan 108, with Belgium and Norway tied at 106. Germany is 102 and Italy 101.

that applies to the Euroe zone. Don't assume something if you haven't a clue about it. In the last five years I watched about 10 minutes of Fox news when cable at work stopped working ;). Further on, I mentioned Yugoslavia in my very first post and if we're talking about EUROPE not the Euro Zone or European Union, Bosnia, Kosovo and all the rest apply since they are a part of Europe :D

You're right though I haven't wasted my life doing research, I gathered info from people who make a living doing research and I'll trust them :)

Oh, and Devrish before you start naming chanels I should watch I'll recommend a book you should R E A D.

EU versus USA

and it's not written by an American...

here's a little summary

If the European Union were a state in the USA it would belong to the poorest group of states. France, Italy, Great Britain and Germany have lower GDP per capita than all but four of the states in the United States. In fact, GDP per capita is lower in the vast majority of the EU-countries (EU 15) than in most of the individual American states. This puts Europeans at a level of prosperity on par with states such as Arkansas, Mississippi and West Virginia. Only the miniscule country of Luxembourg has higher per capita GDP than the average state in the USA. The results of the new study represent a grave critique of European economic policy.

Stark differences become apparent when comparing official economic statistics. Europe lags behind the USA when comparing GDP per capita and GDP growth rates. The current economic debate among EU leaders lacks an understanding of the gravity of the situation in many European countries. Structural reforms of the European economy as well as far reaching welfare reforms are well overdue. The Lisbon process lacks true impetus, nor is it sufficient to improve the economic prospects of the EU.
