| Personally, when I buy a CD, I don't honestly care too much whether or not the songs transition super smoothly. I mean, really. Is this why you all buy mix CDs? So you can listen to them, close your eyes, and make sure you can't tell the track has changed? Puhleese! It's about the tracks themselves much more than the blurr in transition you all seem to obsessively seek. |

Well, when I buy a mix CD, I buy it for the track selection AND just some decent/normal mixing. If I didn't care about the transitions then why am I buying a mixed compilation in the first place? I might as well buy all the seperate MP3s and play them in the same order in Winamp... in fact it would probably sound better considering some of the transitions! :o |

That's what a CD is.
In the end, this CD will sell well, and people will enjoy it. No one, not Tiesto, nor his fans, honestly care what some guys on a forum thinks of the "transitions between songs".

but when its a mixed CD you expect some sort of proficiency in those mixes. |

well he has a point,i really like trance music of all kind of djs like armin,mark norman,marcus,tiesto ect i do listen to the mixes as well because some friends of mine are djs so.
mixes are important but you guys are talking and discussing this to much...its the feeling when you listen to the music
not critize every mix cuz then you don't enjoy the music anymore
dont you think so?

That's true, I suppose. My ears, however, are untrained when it comes to being able to really observe the mix...so I'm happy with it. I think the proficiency in the mixing is secondary to the actual track/remix. The 4-10 minutes, or however long the song is, is what you should focus on. Not the 30 seconds of transition.
I guess it all has to do with where you care to point your focus. And why you buy CDs. I mean, if you want to buy CDs from famous DJs and use them to compare your amature skills, that's fine. You could do that. And that would be your choice. It would be stupid...but you could do that. I don't do that,and I'm not a DJ either, but the point is as a fan who buys this CD, the vast majority will be pleased with it.
Mu point is that my focus just isn't in the mixing, rather in the tracks themselves...and in my case, this CD is a major win! |

| I am by no means an expert on mixing, but I like mix cds to have a certain flow to them. I don't like being able to tell when one track ends and the next one begins. Mix cds are kind of like a symphony; many different arrangements composed to make one piece of artwork. This is why I really love ISOS 1-3...especially 3; the whole cd is like one beautiful long song. With this latest release, the second cd definitely has that going for it. The mixing is very good on it because I can't usually tell where the transitions are and I definitely can on the first cd. The mixing doesn't have to be superb, but it should have a nice flow. Take Parade of the Athletes for example. There really isn't any brilliant mixing, but it's not bad and the album flows quite well. But yes, dj's are paid to mix songs, so they should be halfway decent at it. You wouldn't like a Coldplay song is the timing of the drums was off from the rest of the instruments. |

Well, I think that is comes down to this: Uou can't please everyone. Especially on this forum. It seems a lot of you constantly have an axe to grind. I think that if this mix was mixed so that it was one, long song, you all would be complaining it sounded the same and was bland, etc.
You can't win for losing. Except for the fact that Tiesto has wins all the time with his dedicated fans. :) |

| i dont know what you guys are talking about, but the one im listening to is sounding very nice. I havnt dipped into CD2, but CD1 very nice IMO. Definatly better that ISOS4 at this point. And although the mixing isnt perfect, it is more fine for a mix cd. And who gives a that its a ISOS, its the just the name of a damn CD. Everyone is bitching saying change the name. WHO CARES. Just cause 1 and 2 were classics dosnt mean that they all have to be. |
