I'm not shy to admit it, and no, I wasn't a big fan of Tiësto. But I will never say never.
But I never thought he was total crap, and yes, He's got some awesome tracks over the years. Not one, not two, but a few really good one's.

ISOS 5 will be released just one year after #4 ? :nervous:
ISOS was a legendary series until episode 4.
Tiesto disapppoints most people who loved 1-3.
He made a huge mistake by making 2 mixes for #4. There are many great tracks on #4 but with 2 mixes and 30 tracks there is too much average stuff on it that kills the flow.
Also Tiesto didn't put enough attention on his mixing. It wasn't flawless and smooth like 1-3.
And I don't know why he releases 4 and 5 in spring instead of late summer/fall like he did with 1-3.
The mood of ISOS 1-3 was so beautiful. You can feel how Tiesto was inspired by the Ibiza season when he compiled the mixes.
It's sad that Tiesto kills the In Search of Sunrise series by himself just for the money.
I think he recognized that trance is loosing it's popularity and it get's more and more difficult to sell cds. So he decided to make quick money as long as he's still that famous. |

Though after ISOS 4 and Politics of Dancing 2 I'll certainly be going down the 'try before you buy' route this time ;) |

That output was superceded already when he was producing an ISOS and practically 2 Magik's a year (every 8-9 months or so). While i'm not a fan of isos4, it was at least a welcome return to the mix cd format and away from the dodgy artist albums Tiesto had been producing.
As his recent personal update on tiesto.com does go on to explain - he's received some good tunes lately - and without any performances between now and the release of the CD the eventual content of that product will be far fresher than this years edition... where (like Nyana) he had already caned a lot of the tunes in the sets leading up to the release date.
Of course - the CDR is released just before summer - as that way the fans around the world have some expectation or familiarity with the sets he'll perform during the rest of 2006.
I'd prefer him to go back to making them at the end of the Ibiza season too, but its unlikely given his popularity, and the overall success ISOS4 received.
Amnesia sets don't get much broadcast/tracklisting attention these days - and are a good testing ground for new stuff if he was to release a ISOS after his residency, i think it would contain a far greater flow & progressive feel than by mixing it in the spring.
Still - even if the mix CD is a disappointment, there is always the album to look forward to. That they're working on it now, and probably touching up the tracks as he road-tests them this year.. it could make for some interesting new tunes in his livesets, even if the actual released material falls foul to the same flaws as the 4th of the series. |

it's shocking because there isn't enough good trance tracks released nowadays to fill one entire CD in a year. Sad but true. |

I dont really know what to think of this. It could go either way. maybe his producing with BT has influenced him and his sound has changed for the better...or maybe hes just as bad as his last ISOS. time will tell.

Last year I purchased only 5 vinyl that got released in 2005. The other 100 or so all came out pre 2002... :wtf:
Its a sad state.
Its not even that i dont look hard enough, because i do. |
