I constanly find myself listening to a lot of the older tracks that welcomed me into the world of dance music, and van Dyk's hits were an important factor in that welcome. When I go to see PvD, I want to hear his classics and his hits...

While you did not metion it directly, it appears that you are implying that NBY, TOOL and Crush are "Dance music classics", which is pretty far from the truth. The only reason these tracks sell well, are the vocals and some rather good promotion. He did play a bunch of classics, like BBE - 7 days and 1 week and Binary Finary. FAA is likely a classic too and I can get along with it, considering that I have yet to hear anyone drop it more than once in a single night.

Oh, and though I can't speak to his set at Roseland, I've got to say that PvD at Roxy was anything but predictable. For God's sake, the guy dropped "Dark Beat" at a 2005 trance show --- that was absolutely amazing and unexpected!
I think that you misunderstand what the rest of us are saying: Classics and suprises are good, it is the predictability of the NBY -> TOOL -> FAA section of the night that stinks. And the fact that there has not been a set in a long time that I have attended where Crush, NBY and TOOL were not played. I would love to see him drop Connected or Everywhere I go or even Club Attack again in a non-predictable way.

That's why I'm sober at these things... and I'm usually the one still dancing his azz off until the last track is played (i.e. sat night)...
oh well - to each their own

How can you expect anybody to take your post serious with an opinion like that? I will agree that the venue was awesome and they did a wonderful job with the set-up but the sound WAS NOT good by any means let alone "rocked." They did a pretty good job getting the sound as best as it could have been for that venue but it was still horrible......my ears are still ringing.

No one has to take my post seriously.

The sounds system was good considering what they started with. You are probably right about the volume being way too high.

Sorry about your ears. Use some earplugs next time. It really helps.

i always tend to be one of the last dancing too, and when the music stops, I also stop dancing, unlike many people I see :P

The sound was good in the sense that it was loud enough without distortion, but yeah, it was missing midrange, making melodies not so loud, and vocals hard to understand.

My ears stopped ringing yesterday, but I had to go downstairs for about 30 minutes, and i stayed off the floor for a while, because it was too loud for me.

That was my first time at Roseland so I have no clue what they started with.....I'm sure they made it alot better for this event. I wonder who designed the system @ Privilege - Ibiza??? The sound is amzing for such a huge venue.
