i have NO clue...then again it depends on the song. he could throw down "Another Way" in EVERY set and I'd be REALLY happy! :) |

I'm not bashing anyone character, I didn't say "You are terrible people" but wtf. None of us hear can use the excuse (with the exception of the kid who's first time it was) that we don't know what to expect. Someone disagreeing with my point even said by reading what goes on you can almost predict what he's going to play. Well if that's the case, and it's not what you like, why are you going? Personally, I go out, and ignore all the negative things I might not like, because I understand that everyone involved is human, and nothing can be perfectly suited to my needs. They didn't sit around before the show and say "Okay let's screw something up, this way halfway through the night, the sound will go out." It's no big deal, it was kinda cool, PVD worked the crowd, everyone got a quick breather, and he brought us right back in with a nice buildup.
Eh I could babble forever, sorry if I came off harsh, I really didn't mean to, I like everyone on here, I think you're all great. I just think a lot of people have the wrong attitude towards parties. (no one in specific, just generally speaking, and don't even get me started about the people in the MD forum)
And just about anyone that puts on any kind of show, musician, comedian, etc plays a lot of the same , that's what their show is. I'd bet that for every person who's mad cuz they have to hear the same song played as the time before, there's AT LEAST one, probably more out there in the crowd for the first time, going NUTS because they finally got to here THAT song live at an awesome venue.
I better stop before I talk to long no one wants to read it.
Cheers. |

| It's funny, I got a bunch of replies on that song, but I know Wonderbar/Wondurvul/Wonderwhatever (hahah) but (maybe I phrased myself wrong) was that I think there was another track he played a few songs after that one that didn't sound like English, I could be wrong though, maybe the vocals were just hard to make out. |

| Here I go post whoring again, but did you guys catch the look on PVD's face when he played Wundervoll, that just got me so much more into the rest of the night. He was singing and dancing, he was so into it. And from the last few times that I saw PVD, he just kinda stood there and mixed all night, he was really rockin out this time. |

Can anyone ID the track that was played right after the "technical difficulties" were fixed??
His set was harder than I expected. It was awsome. There were some times though when I heard tracks and was like "Didn't I just hear this @ Armin??" So I'm kinda starting to understand what ppl complain about. But I enjoyed every minute of it. I just realize that I need to diversify. 21+ was great. As for Dogzilla part 2 *shrugs* seems to happen every now and then w/dj's. I don't know if it's that they forgot that they already played it or what. Maybe that was the track that was interrupted when everything broke down and the music stopped (can't remember). It was no biggie though. I just went and got my coat from coatcheck  . Had an amazing time :) Kinda broke now though so next up for me will be Above & Beyond :) |

| The night was very nice indeed. PVD played a song called "star" but I don't know that artist of it. Does anyone know? |

| definitely great night out w/the 'pvd crew' -- lazers were UNBELIEVEABLE with those high ceilings - sound definitely a tad on the loud side. I dont like it when my ears are still ringing loudly 24 hrs later... definitely a really good set from pvd - solid all around. I agree concerning the point that TOOL, Nothing but You and For An Angel definitely gets tiresome and Id much rather hear other pvd classics, but those are songs that the crowd definitely connects with - I think thats why he continues to play them. Even tho all 3 are beyond played out, theres still 5 and a half + hours of other amazing tracks that make the night worth it ;) |

Yeah, unfortunately I missed the show--due to age restrictions. So, pics or videos would be highly appreciated. |

PvD was my first, and I've always been a PvD whore, but I think I might be moving on. (Though I'm not going to stop going to see him).
1. I was still pretty tired from Ferry when I got there. The last two nights are still a blur to me. PvD came on about 4 minutes after we got in, though we were waiting for a friend in the lobby for about 20 mins before that. As soon as he started, all my fatigue was gone. That first 30 mins/1 hr was soooo hard; he owned us.
2. TOTAs. You really added to the party. ... And I think you may have won the dance-off (sorry Jay).
3. Paul did seem to take more interest in the crowd and party than "stare at laptops" and do his sly smile (I hear the girls love that smile). I have a feeling he's a bit of a geek ... it's just the way he was trying to dance, moving his hands around to the tunes, and playing that air guitar ... just didn't seem natural (unlike Armin or Ferry).
4. I liked the crowd and the vibe. Having events at Roxy or Roseland brings out people for the purpose (music, dj worship, scene, whatever you call it) and none of the posers. I could count the Ginos on one hand. I met quite a few people who aren't really into PvD anymore but came out because they'd see familiar faces. The air conditioning worked, unlike Roxy.
5. Sound. My ears are still ringing even though I was wearing ear plugs most of then night and took them out every now and then. Shame about the outage.
6. Tracks.
Time of Our Lives - I was dying to hear this at Roxy but just didn't feel it last night. It just sounded different - wasn't the Vega 4 mix, was it?
Wolfsheim - Wundervoll. I heard that the first time I saw him in '03 and haven't heard it since. Totally loved it. Apparently Wolfsheim are a big band/group in Germany.
FoA, TOOL, NBY, Crush - I can understand how those get boring after a while. However when you've only been a few shows (or none), you start to recognise these tracks, and you know he's going to drop it, the anticipation really matters. It's like a great wait and buildup and when he finally drops Crush it can set the dance floor on fire.
Dogzilla - Without you near. Didn't Ferry drop this as well?
7. The friends I was with had a great time as well. Along with them I was absolutely sober, running on bottle after bottle of water, till the sound went out. They left shortly after that, and, well, the rest is a different story.
** All in all, I think I had a better time at Ferry. ** |
