NHL Playoff predictions (pg. 10)

Hey Crave the Rave, good point about the comparission
between the Avs/Kings and Bruins/Habs series. I personally
think the Bruins/Habs series is a little more physical than
the Avs/Kings series. But then again any series is phyiscal
cuz it's the playoffs.

For some reason, I think money is involved in the Avs/Kings
series. Clearly the Avs should have won game 5. I know I
have no proof or anything like that, but maybe ABC is whining
about an extra game to be played between the Avs/Kings so
that everyone wins money and things go according to plan.
How do the Kings benefit from this; they get an extra home
game with a sellout crowd.

The Avs will still move on to the next round and the Kings
will be eliminated and ABC/ESPN makes their extra cash and
the fans won't know anything about it. So, what do you think
guys. My consiracy theory seems to check out. It's acting, not
all the time. Only when extra money can be made.

You can apply this so-called theory to any other sport.
LOL...hey guys you can say I'm on crack but that's the way
I think sometimes. We're all on crack sometimes, you guys
just don't admit it.

By the way, did anyone happen to see the replay of the
overtime goal by Ottawa. If you look closely in slow motion,
when the Senators hug together to celebrate, one of the players
got hit in the stick on the mouth by his own teammate. The guys reaction was hilarious, expecially in slow motion. He was like
oww and trying to celebrate at the same time. LOL :toothless

well its over. i won't make too much comment about what i think of the officiating in this series. we got outplayed big time the last 2 games. if it weren't for heart, we probably would have lost game 6 6-0. the canucks are out but i am so damn PROUD of this team. almost everyone, including myself, have counted them out during christmas. they had that sick 28-9 run just to make the 8th spot, take on the presidents trophy winner, left detroit up 2-0 only to lose the series in 6. although, they didn't send chelios, that old irritating fart, to the retirement home. they did leave us with wonderful memories of, what turned out to be, such an exciting season.

since they are out i am jumping ship with my hero joe sakic and my 2nd favorite NHL team. so sebby, too bad its been a nice ride for the kings but they must go now. i hope the avs smoke them bad in game 7 and then DESTROY detroit in the conference finals. (hopefully they will meet)

btw sebby, i don't think your theory about "false" game results exist. trust me, you can't talk a team into losing a stanley cup playoff game on purpose just so some stupid TV station can make an extra buck.
sebby
Ok M.A.R.K., your point is taken into consideration on my
theory. However, I hope you're not supporting the Avs
because they are the team that has the best chance to beat
the Red Wings.

Hey guys, you've got to admit I was right about the Kings
not going away easy. Should the Avs win, the Kings warmed
them up really well. If the Kings win, which I hope will
happen but I doubt, they will face Detroit and lose to
them anyways. Like I said before, to beat Colorado and
Detroit in the same playoff year is impossible.

So far my first round prediction is way off. Flyers, Devils,
and Canucks are eliminated. I chose those three to move on to
the next round and that didn't happen. Meanwhile I was right
about the Sharks and Blues but was wrong about the fact that
they won in 5 games. I'm already wrong about the Kings/Avs
series ending in 6 games. I'm still left with Canadiens in 7
and Leafs in 6. Alot of surprises in the first round so far.

I hope everyone will continue to participate on their
predictions for the playoffs, this time predicting second
round outcome and in how many games. Of course we shouldn't
predict anything until there are eight teams left. Until then,
enjoy "Game 7 Avs/Kings" and other remaining first round
action. Late// :D :toothless

hehe no mate. joe sakic is my favorite player dating back to the quebec nordique days. i love the avs big time but only if the canucks aren't around for me to cheer. :toothless

Well it's a Game 7 showdown again. Didn't want to do it this way but it's time for the Avs to show what they are made of.

So far, my predictions for the East have gone down the drain with the exception of the two remaining series (Habs and Isles in 7). I can't believe the Sens won!!! As for the West, I thought Chicago could beat the Blues but I was way off on that one. Sharks are gonna be tough in the next round, too. A few more days left and then predictions for round 2 should be up here. Should be a great next few days.

LET'S GO AVALANCHE!!!!!!!

you'd think that wouldnt you. but no, thats what would happen in a real hockey league. this league is so damn watered down its laughable.
i dont know about anybody else but does anyone remember the days when the nhl was the toughest league in the world and if you did something the you had to be able to back it up on the ice? this league is a god damn joke. thanks a lot bettman for ruinning this game.

my friends, this is what the playoffs should be.
Damo
that was an intense game, too bad we lost, game 7 is going to be INSANE. can't wait till tuesday.
CraveTheRave
Well Round 1 is almost over and my dream match-up took another step to reality last night (AVS. VS HABS). Tonight is gonna be another wikkid game. LET'S GO ISLES!!!
sebby
Ok, Round 1 is officially over. Who should be the MVP
so far? My pick is Patrick Lalime for posting three
consecutive shutouts and allowing 1 goal in games 1
and 5. That's allowing a total of 2 goals in 5 games
plus overtime play. His GAA and SVPCT is near perfect.

Ok, here's my predictions for round 2...

WESTERN CONFERENCE

[1]Detroit Red Wings vs. [4]St. Louis Blues [Wings in 6]

The Wings offense will be too much for Brent Johnson to handle.
Hasek will learn from his mistakes in round 1 and live up
to his name, the Dominator. The Wings are a much more talented
team to let it all slip away in the second round. Besides, the
Canucks are a more fearsome team than the Blues anyway.

[2]Colorado Avalance vs. [3]San Jose Sharks [Avs in 5]

The Avs finally have their full line-up and destroyed the
Kings 4-0 in game 7. Look for the Avs to do some more damage
against the Sharks, who by the way lost 4 of 5 games
against the Kings in the regular season.

EASTERN CONFERENCE

[3]Carolina Hurricanes vs. [8]Montreal Canadiens [Habs in 6]

Hmmmm....How did this happen??? Anyways, Theodore seems to
be a big factor again in this series. Weekes may have done
something spectacular against the Devils but that was only a
couple of games, not a whole series.

[4]Toronto Maple Leafs vs. [7]Ottawa Senators [Leafs in 7]

Both teams have great goaltending and skilled players. Of
the four series left, this one was the hardest to predict.
Home ice should win it for the Leafs. The Sens could pull it
off only if Lalime is superb. Nevertheless, I'm still going
for the Leafs cuz their dirty plays will pull through for them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, there you go. Looks like it'll be the Wings vs. Avs for
the West and the Leafs vs. Canadiens in the East. This should
be really exciting, expecially for hockey fans in Canada. :toothless

Damo
what you call dirty play, any home fan would call grit and ferocity. we have a ton of grit and Ottawa's going to be overmuscled again this year with Mogilny and Roberts scoring the big goals.
M.A.R.K
lol i did horrible in the first round. 3/8 :whip:
oh well...

(1.) Detroit vs (4.) St. Louis [Wings in 6]
(2.) Colorado vs (3.) San Jose (Avs in 5]

(3.) Carolina vs (8.) Montreal [Habs in 6]
(4.) Toronto vs (7.) Ottawa [Sens in 7]
