Because Im a Red Wing fan, I am likely biased toward saying that they will win the Cup.... But one thing that is for sure, is that the Colorado/Detroit series is going to be huge, just think of the matchups:
Hasek vs Roy (tie)
Yzerman vs Sakic (Yzerman is better)
Chelios vs Forsberg (Forsberg is a force)
Bowman vs Hartley (Bowman is the best of all time)
Lidstrom/Chelios/Fischer vs Blake/Foote/De Vries (tough call)
Datsyuk vs Vrbata (Datsyuk in the rookie battle)
Hull/Robitaille/Shannahan/Fedorov vs Heyduk/Drury/Tanguay/Reinprecht (Detroit easily has the edge in depth) |

How can you compare the best forward in the world
versus a veteran defensemen. You could have said
Fedorov vs. Sakic,..Yzerman vs. Forsberg, and
Kasparitis vs. Chelios. Doesn't these match-ups
sound better. I guess you can say they all balance
out. :toothless |

| Christ al mighty, it's funny how you Leaf haters from Edmonton keep dissing the leafs and they just keep kicking ass without 8 regulars. Keep talking like that and they'll win the cup, keep it up CravetheRave, call me when edmonton does any better. ha |

The reason I mentioned this, is because during the series, that will be a primary matchup. Roy and Hasek will be competing for best Goalie, but Chelios will be competing to be Forsbergs shadow, similar to what he did to Todd Bertuzzi in Round One. You will see Chelios and Forsberg mashing it up the entire series, hence, Chelios vs Forsberg (not a comparison, rather a matchup)
I Matched Yzerman and Sakic because of their similarties. Both number 19, both captains, both 5'11" 185lbs, both are respected leaders, and both will need to lead their team if they want to win.
I wouldnt matchup Kasparaitis and Chelios, because Foote, Blake and De Vries are much better. Chelios is a Norris trophy winner (and will likely take it again this year) |

So I have to like Edmonton just because I live here? Come on. And if you wanna go with that, when was the last time Toronto won the cup and when did Edmonton??? Thought so. Toronto winning without 8 regulars just show, besides Sundin, how average those 8 regs are if the farm team can fill in for them. Especially for that piece of e Tucker. As for hockey fans and non-leaf supporters in Canada.. if somehow they pay enough money to the officials and buy the cup this year... we are never, ever going to hear the end of it and we might as well forget about seeing any other team on TV. |

Yep, it was great game. No matter how good the
Avs played, the Wings found a way to win; today
it was McCarthy. The Avs should bounce back from
this loss. Hasek and Roy made some spectacular
saves, allowing goals that were almost impossible
to save or were scored off a lucky bounce.
I know know what you mean SARCOMAN, about the
Chelios vs. Forsberg match-up. They got a little
taste of each other today and should continue
battling for position throughout the series.
Should be an interesting match-up to visualize.
I was a little disappointed with the way Forsberg
and Federov played. They played sloppy. But then
again, they're targeted players. Hopefully, they'll
bounce back by playing the way they should and
eventually make the upcoming games more exiting than
game 1.
Can't wait to see game 2. Lates.// :toothless |

| the leafs are such cry babies. the way they protested their calls in the 3rd period were just disgusting. look at gary roberts, waving hands and tossing water. wtf! :wtf: it wasn't even close. those were blatant penalties no need to whine. i sure hope the canes knock them out and even if they don't, they're just setting up toronto for an old fashion beating from either detroit or colorado. |

Well, It's been a while since I posted anything on this
thread. It has been a crazy conference finals. The Leafs
played with a lot of heart. If they had a healthy starting
line-up who knows how far they would have gone.
Carolina awaits the winner of the Wings/Avs series. I think
there will be a game 7. I was way off with my prediction for
the east. Are we supposed to consider the Canes a cinderella
team? They are ranked number 3 in the east and had home-ice
advantage throughout the playoffs. They are definitely the
surprise team this year. I'm sorry to say this but the Stanley
Cup winner will come from the west. Carolina can't win it all.
This will prove once and for all that the best conference is
the Western Conference.
Although I wanted to see a European goalie lift the cup, Hasek
and Irbe's chances are very slim, whereas Patrick Roy has done
it before and will do it again. He is after all the best goalie
that I have ever seen, playoff-wise.
Come on guys...post some comments. I hope this thread doesn't
die until the last playoff game. Peace//:toothless |

Ahhh, what a relief.
Well, I must admit (although grudgingly) that the Leafs played valiently.
Kaberle sure didn't look too good. It was gratifying to see the Hurricanes win thanks to another Leaf turnover. They seemed to do that alot during the playoffs. I'm astonished Cujo could bring them that far. I must give credit to Joseph for his play. He was amazing.
Anyway, now that those pesky Leafs are out of the way, we might be able to see some real hockey coverage on CBC, The Score and the Toronto Sports Network.
I have always stood behind the Avs to make it to the finals. No matter who comes out of the West though, I must predict that Carolina will win the cup in 6 games. They beat Toronto for God's sake. Any team that can go to the Center of the Universe and beat their hockey team should get the cup right away.
If it happens then I will look like a genius. I just want someone new to hoist that trophy.
Go 'Canes Go!!! |

well tonight is game seven avs vs detroit. I still just can't get used to the idea of chelios, luc robitie, hasek playing for detroit. call me old fashioned but i liked when players stayed with their teams for their whole career. like stevie y.
go wings.
