My Round 1 Predictions:

Western Conference:

Vancouver vs. Detroit: Detroit in 6.
They're just too powerful and after they stop the Canucks winning streak, it'll be all downhill from there.
Los Angeles vs Colorado: Colorado in 6.
Honestly, I didn't want to play the Kings but this year we're not underestimating them so we're gonna roll them LA Boys. LET'S GO AVALANCHE!!!
Phoenix vs. San Jose: San Jose in 7.
The Coyotes still won't win a playoff series... no matter how much white their fans wear.
Chicago vs. St. Louis: Chicago in 7.
This is a toss-up but I say the Blues goaltending fails again... not that Passmore and Thibault are that much better. And Tkachuck can't do in the playoffs!

Eastern Conference:

Montreal vs. Boston: Montreal in 7.
Standings mean squat in the playoffs. Les Canadiens will show why they're the most historic franchise.
Ottawa vs. Philadelphia: Philadelphia in 7.
Two falling teams, just have to pick which one's worse and who hasn't won a series in forever.
New Jersey vs. Carolina: New Jersey in 6.
Nieuwendyk will have a big series and Irbe won't hold up. Hope Stevens lays out someone again. Keep your heads up, Canes.
New York Islanders vs. Toronto: New York in 6.
Cujo will choke as usual. Yashin will break his playoff curse and Long Island have been waiting too long for this... plus I hate Toronto ;)

Bottom line: Avalanche are gonna win it all again!!!

I second that.

And now the Avs got Forsberg back!! It's over now!!
sebby
Yeah it's definitely over for the Avs. Forsberg is not
100% and will slow everyone down.:p
CraveTheRave
Hey Sebby, I'm guessing you're a Kings fan... sorry to hear that :D

naw naw...regardless of whether hes 100% in the first game, he will take pressure off Sakic, and he will find his place quickly. just because he hasnt played in awhile doesnt mean he will be terrible. he will prolly be a little rusty, but dont forget he will be feeling better than he did all last years playoffs when they won it all.

plus the Kings took his spleen - theres gotta be some retribution! heh/
sebby
Okay guys, I'm a Kings fan.....but that doesn't
mean the Kings will go out easy. You've gotta
admit they're a tough team to play against
sometimes. Considering that we don't have any
huge stars like the Avs, and Red Wings have, we
still have a shot at the cup.

I know that the Avs are a great team, but they were
better last year and we hung tough against them in
the playoffs. No one has come close to beating the
Red Wings and the Avs in the same playoff year than the
Kings have. Besides, I don't want to see a back-to-back
champion again.

GO KINGS GO!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!... I'M CUP CRAZY!!! :toothless

oh i agree that the Kings wont go easy. im not even 100% sure the Avs will beat them. call it 85%...thats good. plus many of the big Kings (Deaders and Miller) are former Avs...-evil grin- heh itll be a great series...now i jus need to get back to Co so i can actually see the games...late/
rollypoles

Ok Guys, Kings vs. Avs,...tonight. I know I'm being
invaded by Avalanche fans in this thread but I still
gotta support my Kings. It's what I have been doing
since I was a kid. Not that I hate the Avs. You guys
got a great team. It should be a great series, if not
one of the best along with the Wings/Canucks series.
What am I saying, every match-up looks impressive.

Meanwhile, I was not surprised to see the Devils lose.
It was due to player injuries such as Niewendyk, Sykora,
and Richer. The Flyers/Senators matchup might be tougher
than we bargained for. The Sharks/Coyotes game last night
was an example of what little mistakes can do to a team.

I can't wait to see the other games tonight, such as the Bruins/Canadiens match-up. This series is all about the
goalies. The Leafs/Islanders matchup is a series that will
require a combination of things. First, goaltending. Then
the star players stepping up. The rest is all mental.

"Cuz when the motherf**kers on, it's on." :toothless
