actually, i was paraphrasing kanye west in summing up americas attitude toward futbol.
plain and simple, no here give a hoot. anytime i want to know what's going on i've had to int'l tv, or some foriegn newpaper. thx to internet... going to forieng websites has made it very easy to stay on top of what is going w/the clubs in SA, or eruope with out bothering w/american crap like espn.
i don't think i can forgive american media for the crimes they commit to our culture/sports. |

after that i just went straight to one of the argentinean newspapers and just clicked on the sports section. and *BAM* just like that i found out what was going on. for a long time it was the same thing w/television. actually, i almost fell out of my seat in the lunch room the other day when i saw that ABC was televising a game. i had to ask someone to confirm that i was still in the USA.

ABC and its other stations (ESPN, ESPN2, etc.) are showing every game this World Cup. It's not the first year they've done this either. On the main network ABC, games are more infrequent because look at the times they play. That cuts into regular programming (even if it is soap operas), but they still show games on the weekends. The early games on both Saturday and Sunday are on ABC, with the later games being shown on ESPN or ESPN2.
Also, ABC/ABC affiliates cover MLS games, too. |

Enough George Bush rants. The dude is an idiot and more than half of the U.S. didn't vote for him and 65% of my current state of New York didn't. Thanks for lumping at least 145 million people that didn't vote for him into the same category.
THIS IS A FOOTBALL THREAD or discussion about U.S./Ghana football in general.
If guys like Reggie Bush played futbol, we'd freaking demolish. As I've said before, we got rich kids from the suburbs who eat orange slices at halftime suiting up. If they get down early, they have a tendency to wilt and struggle to comeback. This goes hand in hand with playing weak ass opponents throughout the years.
Isn't Bruce Arena kind of feminine? His postures are a bit fruity. |

this is new to me... probably because i'm used to going straight to the spanish channel. i never even think about ABC/NBC/FOX. especially after that horrifying experience w/espn.com not to long ago. in my mind that just confirmed the status quo that i have always been forced lived with.
oh, i forgot... i haven't had cable for atleast 10yrs now... but from what i have seen on espn, espn2, fsn at work hasn't impressed me much. they have always given me the impression that they're just posing by trying to be down by covering the premier league. |

Here's the schedule from espn.com, since they own the rights to the games here (not Fox or NBC). It's broken down by day, and by selecting a day, you can see what games are showing on what stations that day. They have been re-running games at night on ESPN Classic (also included in schedule). For instance, this evening, from 9-11 EST, the US-Ghana game is on again and they'll have the Czech-Italy game on at 6 AM tomorrow morning.

The commentators aren't amazing, but at least you can understand the whole thing if you aren't fluent in Spanish. |

good point. calling futbol/football soccer is a crime, and what happened today w/team USA is punishment.
this reminds me of that one chappelle show skit where the little white guy is whipping dave chappelle:
your name is 'SOCCER'!
... futbol...
*crack of the whip*
I SAID YOUR NAME IS SOCCER!
... futbol...
*CRACK*
SOCCER!
........ futbol....
the metaphor is alarmingly errie... |

Sorry. :(
Oh, BTW, when I was looking for that info, I discovered that ESPN.com does cover all the international leagues (European and South American leagues at least). Here's the link to the main page, but I don't know if that'll work for you either if the first one didn't - http://soccernet.espn.go.com/section?cc=5901.
Even if you just go onto ESPN's site, "soccer" is listed as one of the main tabs right now, but you can always get there. It'll take you to espn's soccernet, which has links to scores and tons of stories about the foreign leagues. |
