We have some awesome clubs in ottawa that bring the big names.
Montreal is only worth it one weekend a month imo.

Dude I am not a crackhead, I am just saying the afterhours scene in Ottawa is non existent. Its hard to party when you gotta work till 10 -12 pm each friday/saturday. Helsinki is chill but its the size of my living room. Club heaven is descent size but its still nothing like in Montreal, I mean what club in Ottawa has a house and hip hop room ? Yeah none.

you talk like that is a bad thing they don't have that :wtf:
anyhow, when did you start going to Aria? One time you have been there and it happend to be the night Preach was playing. He draws out a crowd (apparently better then the last time this weekened) and it was also F1. Normally Aria doesn't get that packed unless there is a HUGE dj that ppl want to see and that it isn't DJ Dan again. Anyhow, if you had been going to Aria for years you would understand where some of the comments are coming from. So don't make comments such as

Maybe you should come live here for a bit and see. I don't know I've been to Aria once so far and it was fun. Anyways seems like you can never win...if bigger Dj's are booked certain peeps will complain its too much cheese or that the place is too packed. Ever though that maybe the DJ's are not always avaiable ? Also Aria i guess has some stiff competition with clubs like Stereo which I have yet to visit, but I dunno does Stereo have a mind blowing line up for July ? Anywho I guess people go or otherwise Aria would not be booking these "" Dj's, I mean its a business and you are not going to run an unprofitable business, but hey I don't know jack but I do know that ARIA is tooooo cool of a place to go down !

because you can't say that you know what we are talking about in here.

Aria was always my home when I came to Montreal. And I only usually ever go there when bigger dj's are playing (cuz that is the only time I come to Mtl). I hope things will pull themselves together for Aria and bring back the crowds it once had. But not much we can do from this end except sit back and wait. :(

magikb I agree with what you are saying 100 %, I was just expressing my opinion, but on the other side of things I am saying that people should not bitch all the time. Maybe you guys in MTL have too much of a good thing, I mean how many afterhours clubs do you have ? Maybe if two closed down, the overall quality of the DJ's would go up as there would be less clubs to spread them around at. We here in Ottawa have one I think and its a total hole. I know I've heard about Aria and the way it use to rock back in the day and I am sad that I didn't experience that, because I truly think Aria has a very cool vibe about it the venue it self is cooler then anything here in Ottawa, like when I first stepped into the main room I was like wow this place is hella cool and the Dj booth is soo cool.

Ahhh

I understand people like Jay and Jenn who've been in the scene for a while and saw Aria at its peak with amazing international DJs almost every week and all that....all I can say to you guys is dont think its going to come back to those days. Keep them as nice memories and past good times and experiences and go with what the present holds...

As for the present, people are being harsh here. Aria has the best residents in my opinion and they are just about the only afterhours that can pull off a month with almost only residents..I never liked the glowstick acrobatics of Circus, and the girls are plenty and hot but unfortunately 90% of them can't be talked to in English and the cherry on top is that the hip-hop room is now on the same level :wtf:.
Stereo is a gay afterhours. Apart from that, it's a great place with a great sound system and some nice residents. They bring a good international DJ once a month. Unfortunately its prices demand only once a month attendance from me (and someimtes not even that)...
Redlite is in Laval so its way too inconvinient. Apart from the girls I hear that pack the place, the club itself doesnt interest me as much and they never booked a intersting enough DJ for me to make that trip...
..That leaves us with Aria...the one afterhours that has that look and feel to it, reminds you of an underground garage or lot for containers, and that's how I came into the party-scene in Montreal so it's like .. familiar territory. I know many will disagree with me and say Stereo has the best residents but the following list of DJs play the kind of music i want to listen to when i go out:
Maus
Creator
Mini
Marco G
....
And all-nite, these residents dont play every 2 months...The only ones I see get rotated like that are the "Conduct" nights so far, but hopefully that will change soon...

Another thing for me is that I cant afford to go out every single weekend...
and its not only the money either, there is so much other out there to do and focus on then afterhours...these are supposed to be irregular and not-so-frequent outtings when it comes to afterhours...so a month like this for Aria, with a 6 hour set from one of the top residents (who packs the place), Howells, and my dose of Maus with Marco G and one afterhour is covered...I dont understand actually how people can complain when they are getting two superstar DJs in one month in their city...

for the record, my post wasn't for anything against the residents at Aria. I was simply just making a comment.. that is all. You guys have your supporters on here and if I lived closer I would probably still come out for these nights. :)

I already know Aria will never be the same anymore as it used to be as well, which is really unfortunate :(
To be honest, I don't think really any clubs in Montreal right now can come remotely close to what Aria was then, the scene in Montreal just isn't the same as it used to be and nothing can change that.

nick my complaints werent directed to the residents either, they do a great job.Like I said earlier they just dont have the drawing power to fill up such a big space.Aria is the only club that can pull off a month without a headliner?Empty dancefloors is not pulling anything off;) If it wasnt for the 50 cent lounge it would be closed already. You g out once a month?Hmmm when i see you it a headliner there:p

I can listen to amazing music at home, if you want me to go spend money you need to do something that guarantees a huge party.I've been to nights at aria where i felt like inviting everyone in the place to dance in my living room, becuase at least then it would seem full.
Even some of the residents that i have talked to about this same subject(who shall remain nameless for obvious reasons), are actually pretty bummed out when they spin in front of an empty room.Everyone wants the big parties to come back there except the management it seems.FFS, since they canned louis they havent even gotten a new promoter. How are you going to put a bunch of people in a club for residents if you have no one to promote for them.

And mizza, you cant understand what some of us are talking about. You have been to aria once on a F1 weekend. As freaking amazing as that night was,if you would have been around longer and been to some of the legendary nights you would know a bit better. These nights made the one you attended look like a calm gathering;) This isnt Ottawa, its Montreal...you cant use the argument of live here or stop complaining, as it is really retarded.Aria used to be one of North Americas top clubs as far as parties, bookings ect ect.Every international dj that would play aria would spin differently than anywhere else, because the underground vibe and acceptance of new things was a trait that made this club notorious. Now they cant even outdraw or compete with any club in this town. This makes me sad and actually hurts me to see this, so with all due respect srsly NOOB STFU, troll a bit more to get a clue.

Heh, I agree that Aria needs to do something in order to have more international DJs play, and hve bigger/better parties...I was just saying that it seems like we ask too much sometimes and we shold be happy with what we have, and keep on supporting the afterhours coz thats the only way they can make the money to bring those big names etc.
I was hoping for another international DJ too, and not in the form of Gene Farris, but a Creator 6hour set and Danny Howells is enough for a month from one afterhour...there are other afterhours and parties too..
I heard there is someone who took over louis job.

we are the clients and they are the service, not the other way around.Do you support the phone company even if your phone doesnt work?;)

id pay 30$ instead of 10 if it would get us better bookings.

ive supported aria for a long time by going and paying.Do i deserve a medal?no....do i deserve to be told all the talent i want to see is coming when they arent...NO;)
