it was 15$ pre-sale and 20$ at the door.
But you need to pay taxs and the average for the club is 15$. |

There is no more sponsors in Montreal, we can't pass flyers anymore (1600$ police ticket every time)and afterhours are less popular than before. |
That certainly doesnt help things at all. Promotion has got to change and the internet has to be used to its potential. Nothing beats word of mouth tho. |

And if you like only big dj's and are ready to pay, come for Ferry September 2nd.
Tickets are only 35$! |

ok, I am not gonna compare whatsoever here.. but in all seriousness, if you are losing money start charging more.
I have seen Armin play I don't know how many times. And every time I have seen him play Guv I pay a good 40$ + to see him. Fine Guv can hold more ppl and this isn't why I am saying this, but I am simply stating that even though I am paying that kind of money, I have still seen him play over 7 times. I think that it is a proven fact that ppl will pay more to see dj's they really want to see, so why not raise the prices for them to see them. I bet if you would have charged 35$ to see Cox that ppl still would have gone to see him..
why? Cuz he doesn't come to Canada that often and you could have gotten away with it and made money out of it instead of losing like you say you did.
Biggy, you are far more experienced than I am when it comes to this I know, but don't be afraid to up those prices. if you brought Sasha to Aria on Labour Day weekend I would be there in a heartbeat and willing to pay 50$+ to see him. It isn't uncommon that others will do the same to see the dj's they love that is the only point I am trying to get across here. :) |

I still wish it was Sasha, but I will be paying the 35$ to see Ferry on Labour Day weekend :D
I always hear these killer Ferry sets from Aria and I want to be a part of that this time round. Trance or no trance. I am in it for the trance this time round :clown: |

| Promotion is necessary but word of mouth is the best. |

| What I would do is find every internet site in Montreal that has to do with partying or EDM in any way and promote the nights. Thats probably being done now but only to a certain extent(mtlnights, ravemontreal etc. Also start having themes for the night would help so people know what to expect(Allready started doing that a bit I noticed. For the rest well local hero residents are good, people like to look forward to hearing there favorite local Dj's spin. Not that the locals arnt good now but they are just not doing anything special in the scene here. Guarenteed if these things could change then word of mouth would be succesfull. Right now word of mouth about Aria isnt anywhere near good. |

magikb, I tried to charge more for Carl when he played Aria and I lost money.
It can be really dangerous to charge more.
Trance is way bigger in TO than in Montreal and I wouldn't be able to charge the same in MTL. David Brady is asking for 25 000$usd for Armin, wich I think is completely riddiculous.
10 000$ cost to open the main room
30 000$ Armin (hotel, food, money exchange)
6 000$ promotion
= 46 000$
at 45$ a ticket, you need to take off 15% of taxs so the moeny left is 39$.
46 000$ / 39$ = 1180 people but you sell drinks so you can break even with 1100 people.
Not interesting for Montreal.
When we used to get sponsors for BnH of 10 000$ per dj, that was more easy to make money with big dj's but now... this is almost impossible. |

| Sven is in my plan but not for the summer since he's almost every week in Ibiza. |

It doesnt have to be big name djs. There's a great deal of talent from upcoming artists who charge very reasonably, I have a few in mind. People are curious to hear something new, however most work will have to rest on the promotion to make the night a success. Back in the day, it all worked because dance was anew and people were just melting into it, now you have to bring that feeling back by offering that new sound from new upcoming artists.
All the best,
