I spent the last 2 weeks watching it on german or spanish channels. it's been paradise without motson, lawrenson, pearce, hansen, and the itv red-button fetish. the spanish ones are well funny & never shut up, I understood what they said after Rio's passes "lago lago lago lago" which i think means 'long ball' :p The germans were still more excitable than the english pap too, had a great time listening to it without hearing all the cod of our media. They ruin everything

One minute, its England are crap, Portugal were way better and thats why they won, the next its agreeing that if Rooney stayed on we might have won. Make ur mind up.

Bull they where, the pivoting moment was when rooney got sent off. Portugal have gained the upperhand by throwing themselves all over the place at any hint of a tackle, does that make them the better team?

Sublime!

lol pretty good. although rooney has asked ronaldo to stay at united and said hes my mate. so they must have kissed and made up.

even if rooney burries the hatchet, the rest of the country wont.

Let it be stated that I am an England fan.

On that note, since when does it mean anything if a team wins in penalty shots, it's 90% luck based at least, Ill allow 10% for nerve/composure/skill/ what have you.

To say England was not the better side is unjustified, seeing as how they looked the far better side with only 10 men for a huge part of the game, nevermind Beckham "injured" himself and the man himself, ROOOOOONEY, was the one dealt the controversial card.

On a peculiar note... That ref red carded rooney, the game went to penalties and England lost... In the finals he red carded Zidane, it went to penalties and France lost, OooOooOOoo clearly a conspiracy :p

MARADONNA DIDNT HANDBALL THAT GOAL!
2-1 was the final score but who won the falklands war, ananananana (courtesy of Vinny Jones).

Those were my 2 cents.

To say Englan

Not so sure about that, Players who practice penalties and that kind of pressure situation usually do better.

Do you remember Matt Le Tissier? I think, he scored 24 out of 25 penalties in all competitions. He was a good penalty taker. Maybe we should have special players like that available in case of a penalty situation. I noticed other countries broght players on right before a match went to penalties.

We did, he was called Jamie Carragher, who by his own comments after the game has said he's taken about 2 penalties in professional games, and didn't even know that he had to wait for the whistle.

dude i think le tisser's record was more like 48 outta 49 not sure though

penalties are all about preparation and nerve. any player can put them away for fun in training with no pressure. it's nothing to do with luck. germans aren't consistently lucky and us consistently unlucky, our players just bottle it. sad but true
Alex
Ok Ill concede that it takes A LOT of nerve, but the fact is your nerve can get punched out of the goal by a goalie who just randomly picks a side and dives at the shot.
