now its time for ME to call YOU an idiot.
do you realise that exact same argument you're making perfectly applies to zidane as well? he played like the 1998 wc and the 2000 euro cup too.. oh wait he won it. |

just like Zidane won the euro and world cup consecutively?
ronaldinho played like in this cup...doesn't make him any less of a legend. and the same goes for zidane and his games before this cup. |

I'm pretty sure Zidane's name will be mentioned in the same breath as Pele, Maradonna, Beckenbauer, Bobby Moore etc when it's all said and done. Only a clown can't admit that he's one of the best ever.
Back to the Final, I'm going to say France in PK's. it hasnt' been a stellar WC so might as well end it in e fashion too. |

are you kidding me?
you're trying to compare the best player in the world...in the best TEAM in the world... to a player that leads a team to win a wc in 98 and fails to get his team a single goal for 8 years in the wc?
lol, before you post anymore brilliant replies go look up some stats between the two teams and two players in question
ps. I woulden't ask smitty for help, he was trying to convince me that France won a WC before the 70's
edit - I agree rapid, ronaldinho did play like (although I think it was more of a coaching issue...).But he still remains the best in the world, track record my friend...track record. :) |

Captain of the 66 team actually. Brilliant defender...Pele said he was the best he'd ever come up against. He was in that e movie Victory with Michael Caine, Sly Stallone and Pele about the WW2 prison break via a football match vs German soldiers. |

And you're trying to compare a player in the peak of his career and a player who is ing 34 years old. From 1998 to right before the 2002 cup Zidane was the best player in the world, with only Figo and Rivaldo challenging that spot. I'm eagerly waiting for you to defend the "best player in the world" Ronaldinho Gaścho in 2013, cause that's when he'll have current Zidane's age.
And Zidane played in Real Madrid 2001/2002, who was the best team in the world that season.
As for staying 8 years without scoring a world cup goal.. well.. you do realise world cups are only played in every 4 years, do you? We (Portugal) stayed for 16 years without scoring one (1986 -> 2002), would you say every single player we had in those years, like Rui Costa for example, were ? This is just a overhyped stat devoid of any real meaning. |

Zidane: Top 10 of all-time no question about it. You can make a case for top 5, although you'd have to exclude either Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Di Stefano, Puskas, Beckenbauer or Best, who are the usual suspects mentioned when this discussion is brought up. Either way, his accolades speak for themselves, and he shows up big (when fit) when it counts most.
Anyway, with regards to the final, I don't particularly like either team, although I do like Zidane, so I'll probably be cheering for France. Either way, the only thing I really want to see is an entertaining final devoid of diving antics and bull calls. Here's hoping that the final will make up for a ty tournament in general. |
