Hey did i ever said they did ? That wasnt a penalty at all, but to be honest, italy deserved this after being ing fifty times ed by referees in 2002.

you're trying to compare the best player in the world...in the best TEAM in the world... to a player that leads a team to win a wc in 98 and fails to get his team a single goal for 8 years in the wc?

and yet zidane a 34 year old overrated plug, beat the best team in the world with the best player in the world and looked like he was having a field day. not to mention the 2 goals he scored against them in the 98 world cup finals. what a player. and whats all that garbage that he did this world cup? came back from retirement to save france from an embarrasing qualifiers run to lead them all the way into the world cup finals? bleh, absolutely good for nothing.

no but you accused france of getting by because of an 'undeserved' goal yet your own country did just that.

the difference is that what you say was an undeserved goal by france is entirely subjective whereas the penalty on italy was completely and undisputedly undeserved.

brilliant post

:stongue:

add me to the france bandwagon...who cares if they lose. They came back from the dead and blew away the cup favorites.

Italy got my vote - simply because they will make the Crossaints all soggy with their Alfredo sauce.

Italian meatballs will be rolling all over the pitch and French cheese will stink up the field with their smelly play.

In the end, the Spaghetti will prevail by switching to play style they really want to play - rugby and elbow every French player in the face!

Viva Italia!!!!

Forza Italia!

I am still majorly pissed off about Australia's loss to Italy and I was going to boycott them, but i was very impressed with their performance in the last game versus Germany and I feel like they have shown a lot of improvement in the past two games. I don't really like France, never have.

I am half italian anyway and I supported them at every World Cup before this one, so I guess it is a return to normal for me :p

I predict that this game will finish 1-0 to Italy during Extra Time.

P.S. Cannavaro for player of the tournament! ;)

Jesus Christ, I think I've just gotten dumber after reading this thread.

Look, you guys can argue until you're blue in the face about Zidane being one of the best players ever. I don't feel like jumping into the flames so I will not offer my personal opinion on that topic. However, you cannot deny that he is a great player, and has been having a good Cup thus far. In the world cup, your performance or history in previous tournaments or leagues is irrelevant, all that matters is how you play, here and now. Zidane has played well. That is much more than you can say for most of the "star" players in this Cup.

And how does France not deserve to be in the final? Their performance in group play may not have been stellar, but why is that important now? They did well enough to advance, and when the time came in the second round to step up and play hard, they did. They were strong against Spain, strong against Brazil, and while I didn't catch much of the Portugal game today, from what I've heard and seen on highlights, they played a solid game today as well. Even if France's wins COULD only attributed to Spain, Brazil and Portugal not playing in top form (which I do not believe), that is irrelevant. When a game begins it does not matter who the favorite is, what your FIFA ranking is, who has the biggest star players. All that matters is how you play. The better team will win. And right now, the two better teams are facing each other in the final.

As for Italy: I have nothing inherent against them except for their often questionable quality of play. But from what I saw in their game vs Germany, they were playing good and clean.

Personally, I'd like to see France win. They were my favorite in 98, and I was hoping to see them do well in 2002. Now, I'd like to see Zidane and crew get one more cup and prove that they've still got it.

Regardless of who wins on Sunday, let's just hope for a clean game.

yes it was, have you seen how roberto carlos failed to mark him ? he left him all alone, he didn't move.

That still have nothing to do with luck, right? . Once again, the lacking in objectivity in this thread is seriously amazing :haha:

I just hope none of that cheating and diving happen in the final.

unless the refs are going to kick people off for diving, then it's going to happen.

I know that France will play better than yesterday

It'll be the last game for Zizou, and I hope the most beautiful one !!
