These DJs won't attract enough people... you'll lose money!
I'd love to see these DJ's at a massive too, sure, but a business has to turn in a profit and that line-up doesn't compare to the world second largest DJ.
(edit1: Even with it being the ONLY massive on NYE, Tiesto makes a difference in ticket sales.)
(edit2: Yes I'll be at Resoluttttiioooonnnn..........) |

marcus...its not who but how.
you won't understand...you weren't around...im too tired too explain.
They are going after the american and ontario dollar.Simple as that.
Why not throw a party for montrealers in montreal instead of the Toronto east party.Tiesto should come out in a leafs jersey.;)
now now
robbiej
victor calderone=stereo RESIDENT
Tiesto=here already 2 times in 06
Second Sun=already here
2 other locals.
You wouldnt know that would you...from your avatar it seems you were probably too busy with your face buried in a bag of chips to pay attention
;)
edit:Marcus you are missing the point...there is no point explaining something who cannot possibly understand.Stars used to be made on NYE here;)...ask dj dan.
musically marcus you are the biggest n00b on this board.1234 for you...its simple and straightforward enough.Cheese lova:p |

All i'm trying to do is push something positive but from peoples reactions to your posts it seems your just an all around troll who just likes to see his own text. So thhhailor.. its not your town...its not your scene. This party was made for you, not us.End of story.Google all of the old massives and see the lineups...sure there were some names...but many weren't big yet at that time.Thats the spirit of this city...discovering something new.
Not some diva pop star/dj who will bring the blind in droves collect a check and not give a .Once again its not who...you won't understand.
Go to see Desyn at Stereo and ask him what playing a massive in this town helped do for his career. He appreciated it...he gave it his all...he had something to prove. It was magic.Tiesto doesn't give a ...same tracks as always get my money and go.It should be about the music and people who are hungry and want to get people dancing with a passion. Its about the music. You think Tiesto thinks this...for him its just another show another dollar.
i don't want to see more massives die...its my opinion, but like this is what changed things...and what is killing a scene that has seen better days.
you think he is gonna give it his all after one show in another town and a flight here? |

| and thats all fine.. i love desyn myself, and for 2 years partied every weekend in montreal. Would be great to have him at resolution. What you speak of sounds too cliche. I'm not saying its a bad thin. But the way you come about it is that this event should only be geared to certain people and as if having tiesto play at the event is some kind of insult. Godskitchen and bal en blanc will try to please everyone (just as bal en blanc has 2 rooms) and yes .. tiesto as much as he doesnt play anything you wouldnt* hear anymore, i dont understand why you would let something like that bother you so much you want to trash the event. I can understand you want to be passionate, but i dont trash other genres or dj's nor events.. i respect them all for what they do and i think that says alot.. I've gone to several 514pr events just because of the size/vibe of it all.. You being a montrealer should know this unless you just want to turn your head completely and keep your nose snubbed in the air, which i think is unfortunate. We can all agree to disagree. |

still clueless...i told you that you wouldn't understand.
A party for the people with the people and entertainment coming before $$$.The superstar dj is what killed edm;) |
|
|
| robbiej |
| i don't believe the scene is being killed at all to have some dj mag top 5 overratedsuperstar dj's headline 1 or 2 events during the year.. 514productions is dieing(dead?) for financial reasons.. if you think about it, it makes sense.. especially if you ever took marketing..I guess also im trying to say is if you're going to let something like that dictate your i guess... 'edm life' there are other issues than that.. |

three times in 05 actually, zero in 06: BeB 05, the Circus debacle and then the makeup booking the following month. Correct me if I'm wrong.. |

I'm a little tipsy as I write this but...I think you guys are the same age :p
I agree with both of you guys, I mean there's been some recent bookings that were solely for money (Benassi, Guetta at BeB) and turned out to be terrible for edm purists; conversely, other bookings turned out to genius (Fancuilli comes to mind). From a business standpoint, getting Tiesto was a coup, and it's gonna pay immediate dividends. However, if he blows then ANF will be vindicated a bit here as expectations are gonna be high. The success of a massive isn't just todays ticket sales, but also leaving the customer wanting to come back again. Hopefully GK and BeB crew have that vision. And I see where's he's coming from in terms of the corporate world watering down the product.. just look at what's happen to rap music. "Fight the power" :thepirate
But looking at things the other way, people will come out in droves to hear Tiesto and may become enlightened when they hear the other djs, so that could be a good thing, no? The big drawing card for BeB 06(again, to use that example) was AVB, but Fancuilli and Grondin were the stars (imo). The year before, Preach gained new fans and maybe he had Tiesto to thank in some way. There are so many ways to look at these bookings, dudes.
'Curious, Cream 2004 has some mint bookings but it's gone. What happened there? |

all-nites been to more parties than you can probably count in your dreams buddy. trust me, he's old school and he knows what he's talking about.
so funny just to see an ottawan talking like this to an experienced montrealer
Either way, Resolution is for the trance elves and the proof is that the house headliner is a stereo resident :wtf: .Tiesto is a joke, he started a shoe-business for godsakes, he forgot what it is to be a DJ a long time ago, noobs travel around the world to come and see him and the only thing that it's good for is the cash that the organizers make (i.e. it's only good for them).
The people don't pay attention to other djs, they're too busy worshiping their god...
Resolution line-up is a disaster, it's just painfully ironic that it's happening in a city whose scene is almost completely the opposite making the locals dream of out-of-town while the out-of-towners provide the dough for the party that made its people run away...
