tiesto for example...believe it or not i used to like him...there was a time when he was a driving force and was actually pretty good mixing aside(he had a night at le living a few years back that was really ing great)...then he teamed up with sarah maclaughlin(sp?) and made that track that got everyone and their mothers into him.Fanboys and girls were created...
After 2002 Tiesto simply stopped trying...

All so true! I mean have you heard any of the mixes he's done this year? They are terrible. He's the new Oakenfold! Esp that set he did at Disneyland Paris!:eyes:
Even Armin and his ASOT sets are hit and miss. Just like everyone (except Oakey) he'll have a spectacular set sometimes, mediocre ones and downright ty ones.
You are totally right though, there is limited skill in mixing most popular EDM, any of the guys who are truly good at mixing are usually spectacular producers too! Rare breed. |

well at least armin can mix a bit better but its ing trance...you could do it.intro to outro..nothing special.Asot fanboys are even worse than the tiesticles...:p |
you could say the same for any genre..
theres no technical difference between mixing trance or house or whatever.
even you could do it.intro to outro..nothing special.:wtf: |

So I have a question for all of you, being this will be my first time to Montreal....
How's the security @ the Bell Centre?
Where will I be able to smoke??? I heard theres no smoking in Quebec, but I don't see how they'll be able to enforce it at an event like this...
Is there going to be a "meeting" of TA members b4 the party???
Let me know. THANKS!!!
Eric from Chicago

ps...its fun to bash noobs simply because sometimes it makes them think like you and maybe wonder and look at what we are talking about...expand their knowledge and improve the scene...that or because im simply better than you and its fun:p
and you will say music is subjective...well we are talking dj, not producer..if he can't mix then what makes him so great...i really pray one of you doesn't defend him as a technical genius... slam fading is for hip hop;)Did you know most of the tracks produced by him were actually done by someone else;) get my drift? |
welcome back, well put and it certainly begs the question: what time is Tiesto off? :p
Yeah, I'm going with some Tiesto lovers who have access to all sorts of music and links (for free I might add) and only want to listen to him and Armin ad nauseum :wtf: - no matter how much I mention all sorts of other djs |

Ok technicalities aside, we should, within reasonable doubt, expect him to bring a good show, what with it being NYE and him spinning in a city with 'fairly' refined EDM tastes.
All-nite-freak....good post. Totally agree. But then again, look at these boards. Even an environment like this, where EDM knowledge should be at its best, still disappoints. Consistently the DJs mentioned and the longest threads are always for the 'big-names'. |

I could have sworn I just asked you guys a question.... and you're right, you SHOULD expect Tiesto to play a good set. He's been poor lately, but was in Chicago a few months back, and DID perform his best set of the last 2 years @ Congress Theatre to a crowd of about 5000. I was suprised, it's been awhile.
SO what's the situation @ the Bell Centre per my questions a few lines above..
THANKS!! |

| Security at Bell is as tight as O'Hare when you enter (seriously). If you decide to smoke they will prolly just tell you to butt out, no fines since you're from the States (just act stupid like your President). TA meeting at Snarcher's basement :p |

Very tight but you'll be fine smoking in the stands or on the packed dancefloor.

The seats. Theyll put an x on your hand if they catch you and if you get caught again they kick you out. At least that's what the guy told me last year.
Is there going to be a "meeting" of TA members b4 the party???
Maybe... probably... still very early for this...
