All I was expressing was that this is a sham court system set up by the US. Saddam, while not a good man by any means, is not the craziest leader on earth and he may not deserve to be hung. Saddam never started a genocide (a genocide is the deliberate attempt to erradicate a specific culture or race) and speaking of invading foreign soverign countries... what about the dozens of other countries (including the US currently) who have done this? Does that mean I support a court system to try and hang George W?
I'm arguing for some fairness in assesing international political actions which could have dire consquences for thousands of humans. And I think that's pretty fair.

come on it is ok for the U.S to invade anyone, they are there to protect the us remember?:o :whip:

As for the despotism comment... what was a better example of despotism, iraq before this war or iraq now?

No it all rings bells but I know my definitions of Genocide. he never did anything that equates to genocide. He may have ordered mass murder in retaliation but it was never a deliberate and comprehensive attempt to eliminate an intire race from the planet.

Now that said, you may not have noticed but I commented that he may not be the best guy, but he's not the worst. I don't support what Saddam did but I can still disaprove of how this situation has been handled internationally, it has been far less than ideal. In no way or form have I at any point suggested the the words you have put in my mouth.
I find it weak that you even suggested that because I disagree with how this has been handled that I am a supporter of genocide. come on what is this? new age mccarthyism? Lines aren't always black or white. Just because I don't aprrove of the situation doesn't mean I support Saddam. A lot of misinformation has been spread and I think the dots have not been conected in an adequate fashion for some logic here.

we've seen everything here from 'he stole my money, so hang him' (he never stole the guys money, and hanging is hardly appropriate for cash theft anyway) to more detailed errors which include labeling his actions as genocide. (they weren't, and no I still don't approve of his actions anyway regardless of how you want to label it)

ok gottcha. I didn't realize you were taking it that way. besides the reaction to it, he did actually have a valid point. I do beleive it was meant to be taken tongue in cheek though.
I do appologize for being misguided on your comment though.

I dont see the canadian government destroying the natives homes or shooting guided missile bombs aimed at women and children. I do however see this accuring by the hands of the IDF terrorist organization.

My point was he had to be tried by somebody and that his guilt was hardly questionable.
And you're right, there is no black and white in the question of genocide; it was just one of the many things in which he was being tried for:
>>1988 Anfal campaign<<

I'd rather see him hanged by the judgment of his own people than get caught up in some U.N. kangaroo court and him get off on some 'technicality'.

I understand your questioning of the legitimacy of the court because of an intern government, however does that really make the court illegitimate?

The longer this tyrant is alive, the more chances he gets of staying that way; something no one wants.
Besides, people have a tendency to get dead around him even WHILE he's being tried...
