I'll be there! I wish I had been able to come to baja's and hear you play. The group I came with was exhausted from studying for finals and no one was really up for an all-night partying thing. When I left Chubby's, though, there were a decent number of people dancing to Falcon's set. Any word on the success of that event? |

Blek sorry to anyone that had problems or showed up early for my set at chubbys. They were having technical problems all night and I went on a half our late, and only got to play for maybe 30 minutes. There was a 1 sec delay from the booth to the floor, and for the first half of the night if you were in the vip upstairs it sounded like a wreck constantly because of the echo. I kept taking my phones off and going:"wtf why am i off"...but I wasn't. It really sucked.
however, falcon is a nice guy. He thanked "us" for having him come out, and said it was really great that we are trying to get a scene started etc. I told him to come out to bajas after he was done, and he said he might swing by. I figure he was just messing and not serious
and then he showed up with like 20 minutes left of my set. When it was over he clapped and smiled with his little group of people...so thats good enough for me.
I just hated playing that opening slot at chubbys, not my style...wasn't that enjoyable for me at all. |
thats nice of the guy. sorry about your set. i wudnt expect anything else from chubbys. place was always really sketchy.
i cudnt make it since im still in north carolina. any reviews from other TA's that went? i wanna hear what everyone has to say. |

I heard the event went over pretty well. I went to an after party that night with Bryan Scwarz (guy who was in charge of the event) and Falcons Manager/Agent and his assistant, and they all said it went over well enough. For the price they got falcon at...no way they lost money. Falcon actually DROVE up from miami for this believe it or not...and they got him for half...if not less than half his normal price. All I heard from the big heads all night was to expect oscar g next.
But from what I heard Ralphs set was great. I loved it. He has some ing latin edit of the rub ....i want it damnit. But ah....yeah...over all...despite some disappointments, I was happy with the night. |

I enjoyed myself, first of all. I wasn't there for the technical problems at Chubby's, and despite the fact that the crowds weren't that big, I enjoyed what I heard of Falcon's set.
But I think the whole thing would have gone over better if it hadn't been the weekend before finals.. plus, the Baja's party on the same night. Despite the fact that (imho) Baja's resident DJs aren't nearly of the caliber that Falcon is, Baja's has established a name in electronica parties, so Chubby's was missing a GOOD chunk of the people who would otherwise have been there. I mean, there were a decent number of people out, but it would have been better had there been more. I really would have loved to see Tally come out in support of bringing some Miami DJs up here, you know? I would also have enjoyed his set so much more if there had been more enthusiastic people there... Also, I wasn't really familiar with the type of music he was playing, so I was having trouble figuring out how to dance to it, haha. I mean, I know it was house, but it was like wayyyy across the spectrum from the house that I'm familiar with (Mark Knight, Rene Amesz, etc).
I missed the Big Daddy's thing. How did that go? I passed out at like 9:30 Sat night and woke p at 10 the next morning.... studying whips my ass. |

I love falcons style from what I heard. Nice guy too. I agree, and...shh....but that event was going to be thrown at bajas...except oscar g instead of ralph falcon. hit the fan between the owners, and chubbys won.
Big Daddy's kicked ass. To be honest...it was the last place I would have expected to throw a "rave". The owner played a few old old tunes in the begining...a lot of tiesto type stuff...mainly trance...but it was to get the crowd in...because lets face it, the big daddys crowd aint ravers. So the crowd got all hyped n what not, and after some serious business related problems, i went on and played. Honestly...it was packed with so much energy it rivaled my amazing experience playing the vip at solstice....(solstice still wins, but big daddys was a close second). DJ Seraphim did a great job too as usual.
I had fun the entire weekend, and am still recovering from the party and afterpartys of this weekend. |

Dude WHAT event? And on that note, who's going to be around this summer *raises hand*
Hey headphonez when're your papers due and when're your last finals?
I noticed that they're having Baja's residents stay in for the next couple of parties... it's really too bad they're not taking advantage of you being around. |
