I found myself glued to the DJ booth in the Gallery. Got there around 2:30 just in time to catch Deko-ze and Sidney Blu's destruction of the room, and couldn't leave till after 5. In a night with so many headliners, those two stole the show for me. Watching Joel's antics back there was quite entertaining as well.

Great night

Most of the time I'm not a big fan of Guv all-access events, but I think that this was one of the best ones of all time. I honestly think that Circa coming to town is one of the best things that ever happened, it really made the Guv clean up its act. The renovations to the Skybar and the downstairs patio are awesome; it really adds to the place. I really like the setup in the Koolhaus as well. In all honesty I didn't even mind the crowd -- everyone was putting out a great vibe and looked like they were having the best time ever. What really added to my night was seeing everyone out. I haven't been coming to Toronto as much as I used to and it was really great to see all my favorite TAs and even meet a few new ones.

The music was top notch as well! I was bouncing all over the place all night and I saw a little bit of each of the international DJs who I think all brought their A-game. I was most impressed with Felix da House Cat and Eddie Halliwell. But what I was most happy about was that Erick Morillo redeemed himself after a disappointing show at the Docks last time I saw him. His set was sheer awesomeness -- it was fun and funky with a lot of old tracks being played that reminded me of all the times I saw him when he was my favourite DJ.

Overall this night was a 10/10 music-wise and friends-wise, and what made it most amazing is that I got to share this great experience with the girl I love most <3!

Here are some of my favorite moments in the night:

I think this pic sums up the night, LoL

what a great night...

i was in kh for most of pvd and halliwell... i would have probably rather been in the drink or main room for most of pvd's time, but found myself staying because of friends and surprisingly enjoyed his set a lot. at most trance events i've been to in the last year it's only the true fans at the front that are showing their energy... this party was an obvious exception to that. i loved the beginning of eddie's set, it was reminiscent of SvD at decadence.. towards the end it kind of got too vocal.

erick and felix were both rocking when i checked them out.. as people mentioned felix was way off at points (random silence for like 30 seconds) but it was made up for.

i left towards 7, the main room was still completely packed with fab strong spinning.. i always love m&s but it seemed to lack the randomness and gimmicks of a good mark oliver closing set :P

some funny events..

  • two trance nerds almost getting in a fist fight during pvd... if it followed through it would have looked like that video of the french cyclists engaging in a travesty of a scrap
  • erick morillo's MC saying "tonight is all about the H.. O...U...S. music"
  • felix going on the mic trying to get some crowd interaction "i wanna hear y'all say a-men... CAN I GET A WITNESS?!" *crickets*

overall a great night, i was kinda disappointed i got a glance at a lot of friends and acquaintances thinking i'd run into them later on in the night.. but with the crowdedness it just didn't happen

So with a change of events I had to attend Freedom... and I had a splendid time!

I've avoided attending any all access events (or Guvernment for that matter) for quite a long time. I can honestly say that I didn't have much to complain about. Crowdedness was a factor that was to be expected, even with the addition of the z103 crowd. Sound in the KH was better than the night with Digweed. The stench and humidity were hard to deal, but fun times can help you forget. This was the first time that it actually felt like an all access event for me. I've had the habit in the past to constantly bounce from room to room, creating an inconsistent vibe for myself. It makes a huge difference when you spend a portion of the night in one room solely, and then make your way to another afterwards. I was glued to the Kool Haus until 4 am, and when I made my way to the Guvernment Main Room it felt like my night was just starting again; a new club, a different vibe, different faces, etc. It was a whole new party. Sure, it took a while to adjust myself to a different environment and sound, but it was easier to process it in my head. I enjoyed myself right until we left at 6 am.

What made my night enjoyable were friends, but the music wasn't bad either. From 12 am onwards I found myself in the Kool Haus dancing to trance. Trance?! I have never experienced a trance set in over 2 years!!! For some reason, it felt right to be there on Saturday night. I had trance in my pants, and I remembered what it felt like to have those melodic synthlines tickle the surface of my heart. I had flashbacks of my first parties, and the ability to dance to trance managed to come back to me like riding a bike after a long time. I had smiles... chills... and even hands in the air. I was having an identity crisis because of this, and people were confused to see me there. lol. PVD's classic tracks brought IDs to my head that I thought were buried. His set was good. Nothing more, nothing less. It accomplished my fulfillment. Eddie's techier trance didn't do much for me, so Guvernment was my next option.

Caught the last hour or so of Morillo. First time seeing him live with very low expectations. Tunes were fun, sometimes unexpected, and not as horrible as I imagined. The vibe in there was kicking to all sorts of levels, so I decided to stay either upstairs in the balcony away from the disastrous crowd. It was an ugly sight from up there, bwahaha. Hearing Toca's Miracle brought back my teenage years. The whole night was like walking through my teenage to adolescent life!

I tried to explore the Drink for some insect-techno.... The strobe lights were over the top... and we left unfortunately.

Good night overall! Nice to see old faces, new faces, and faces I wanted to avoid. :clown: Best moment was leaving the KH with a heavenly ray of sunshine spraying through the doors. Almost heavenly.. but who wants to go to Heaven anyway?

A hell of a circus party happened afterwards. Oh dear... why hello there!

After 2hrs in the club, I think I started feeling the effects of the Jager shots on my stomach, and I left shortly after PVD started.

I got to see lots of friends, but wish I could have stayed longer. I was in bed all of Monday :(

You know you're getting old when.....
