There are idiots from every country of course. Australians can also be bad overseas; at times I've been embarrassed by my countrymen and women, however America has a far higher proportion of such people than other countries.

You have absolutely no way of proving this at all other than backing it up with popular belief.
Thats a fact. There may be a multitude of reasons why you perceive this to be true, but it isn't. All you're doing is perpetuating stereotypes. You take X examples of cases where you knew someone was American and they were being obnoxious, with no way of quantifying how many Americans you didn't know were yanks, didn't bother you, and were not retarded.
In our own country we have to deal with a far greater % of idiots, because by and large, most Americans who have the means to travel abroad are better educated, wealthier, and less likely to be "the lowest common denominator".
Every western society in the world has fair shares of stupidity and dickwads and the proportion is really not that different whether you're in Prague, Paris or Pittsburg. |
