And I wouldn't argue with America's military being considered low-rung on the first world totem pole.

Money + Numbers + People willing to die seems to be the formula they've run with from the beginning.

I mean, just look at the TA's in the U.S. armed services - if they let them in, they'll let anyone in :p

Ignorant Guat, the cameraman is using the horse stance. Horse stance offers +20 to stability, +5 to strength, and -10 to agility. It is the ideal stance for picture taking!! Read book.

I spent 4 years in the infantry...rifleman and anti-armour.

But that's besides the point.

CoR version: Some Americans wear Canadian flags when they travel, that pisses me off.

I used to work part time as a civey at CFB connaught building machine gun targets..... awesomest part time job ever. Every now and then the range commander would let me go onto charlie range and shoot the out of some targets.....

Contribution is a bit different terms than saying:

You weren't talking about "contribution" at all, you were spouting nonsense worse than American propaganda during WW2.

And here's your name calling:

And you don't have to exaggerate or lie about your impact to prove anything to anyone, as here:

No, I just prefer fact rather than bull claims.

:)

Then stick to that point instead of espousing the nonsense I've now quoted twice for you.

Okay, ' you' isn't name calling. 'You're an ignorant bitch', THAT is name calling.

And no, I didn't say that we single-handedly won the wars, but Canadian troops - during thier contribution to WWI - DID earn a reputation as a highly effective force, called upon to accomplish difficult missions, including those that others had failed to complete. That's in the history books, dude. See: Vimy Ridge
Because of this reputation, they were called upon to serve as shock troops. Again, it's in the books.

In WWII, as part of thier contribution to the war effort, Canadian troops had an entire beach at Normandy to deal with. See also Caen, pursuit to Falaise, etc, etc...not to say that we were the only ones taking difficult objectives, but we weren't fighting at Chuck E Cheese's.

What is it that you contest about Canadians serving in Korea? I mean, we were there...what's the problem?

Aside from the fact that former Prime Minister Pearson is essentially regarded as the father of modern peacekeeping, and our policy of participation only in multi-lateral military operations, I think there is enough empirical evidence to suggest that we carry some weight in terms of human rights and morality in the world. Canada has also been used as a neutral proxy for the US during the cold war.

Let's face it, the US forces are stretched thin - evidenced by 'stop-loss' policies for US servicemen - and Canada's involvement (along with many other nations') in Afghanistan has allowed the redeployment of US military assets to the Persian Gulf. Our troops are getting killed overseas as well, so don't ing tell me that we are a benign force in the world. Sure, we can't stand up against the ten-fold US military, but somewhere in our 50 Peacekeeping missions, international aid packages, CANDU reactors that consume decomissioned nuclear weapons, insulin, etc, etc, etc, we have made some kind of global statement.

Where's the bull?

Or is glory irrelevant for anyone but your homeland? This isn't a case of 'get the ruler', it's a case of national pride and the out-and-out lack of it some Americans exhibit by misrepresenting thier nationality when travelling.

I seriously doubt the American tourists looking to get better service at a restaurant in Paris are thinking "Oh canada is such a lovely peacekeeping nation and they had a whole beach to themselves in Normandy, lets pretend we're canadian and regain some semblance of pride, albeit not really our own"

:stongue: :stongue: :stongue:

More like "these folks probably have preconceptions about Americans even though I'm giving them money, I'll pretend I'm canadian, thats an unassuming, safe bet."

That's what I'm saying, but it's still a ing lame-ass thing to do.

Eventually everyone will catch on and they will have ruined it for the rest of us.

Ruined what?

The grandeur of Canadian heritage? Because they say they're from Canada at a restaurant?
