Xmas night of 06. Mike was so ty LOL!

The way way Mike thinks about mixing isn't the same as how we do mang. I was a noob back then so I just listened to what he was saying. It wasn't that they were out but more that they were missing the best spot for the drop and losing the energy. After a while I could see what he meant.

Phrasing.

That's one of the reasons why van Dyk is so awesome; his phrasing is very carefully controlled.

is that what its called?, i always just called it timing...

It doesn't really matter what you call it; most good jocks start to do it instinctively anyway. :)

I remember the first time I ever mixed a "double drop" by accident and thinking "that was awesome, I wonder if you can conciously do that for every mix".

Hehehe it feels awesome when you finally start to do like that. It's much harder to do when unconcious though :p

LOL. since when is phrasing anything to be excited about? complimenting a DJ for their phrasing is like complimenting a driver for being able to switch the car on.

I kind of agree that it should be a pretty basic requirement but all too often it doesn't exist mang ;-)
