Review: Viva Toronto (pg. 13)

Nic. Amazing. Started out a little slow...but still funky enough for me to groove to. After about half an hour, I believe my comment was "Here we go. Nic has just switched gears..." And from there till the end of the set he was on fire. He really banged it out like I haven't heard him do before. Lead in for Lawler really well.
Lawler was dark and chuggy... but sounded very much like his space opening set. I still enjoyed.
Got up to the Skybar early, before the line. I enjoyed the morning a lot. IMO, the music suited the vibe of the Skybar perfectly. I enjoyed Lawler's set much more then I did last year.

Alright its finally time for my review :)
It all started with the crazy pre-party at my place, thanks to everyone who came, brought alcohol and witnessed me get smashed.. lmao
Got to sky bar around 11:30, go to catch the Roachies who never disappoint.. all I can say is that I wish they could have played longer. Ran around for the next few hours bouncing from room to room finding people to say hello to :) seeing sooo many familiar faces at this event definitely made it even better
When Lawler came on Krystle Justin and I decided to sneak up onto stage.. we made friends with the guys who had the booth and they let us chill with them for all of Lawler's set and for most of Dubfire's. Perfect view. Perfect amount of space. Perfect sound. I couldn't believe our luck... I was so ing excited.
Finally we decided that it was time to go grab our spaces on skybar.. we ran up the stairs [after pulling the best dumb blonde impressions everrrr and jumping the whole line in the drink heeheehee] and grabbed a spot in the booth on the right side. It was another amazing spot. Got to find all our friends and just rock out for the next few hours. Lawler's set was mind blowing, the one in the main room was better IMO but I still had tons of fun.
Sorry to everyone who thought i was being rude. when its 7am, the sun is up and lawler is playing im in NO mood to talk or do anything but dance. skybar for a sunrise set is NO time for a serious chat .. about anything. hahah .. so if i came off as a bitch, I apologize but you should have known better :p
When the boys were done playing puppeteers with me I decided to join lil B on stage.. where I proceeded to grab Lawler's butt and confess my love to him... which he laughed at when Bojana told him I was gay :( damn you! hahahah
The whole night was pure insanity. Absolutely ridiculous. I want to go back. 20/10.

All i can say is WOW.. what a phenomenal night. I just wish i could go back. Fanciulli played a great set to start with.i never thought much of him before this set but he totally delivered.
Lawler in the main room was just insane. he played better than last year in the main room. The crowd just went off when he dropped 21st century ketchup. His build ups were great and he played some insane tunes. Just to mention the crowd was great, everybody was just having such a good time.
Then came Dubfire..wow! this was the turning point of the night. My friends and I were completely blown away bu his set. Tunes just getting better.. For me he played the 2 tunes in the main room.. The first was at the 30 min mark of his set with the piano..CAN ANYONE ID THAT SONG? and then there was grindhouse. i never understood what all the fuss was with this track. but when he played it in the main room.. HOLY !
Lawler did what he always done on skybar..hes like bloody Roger Federer. he will always bring the goods. I think I preferred his last year's set on skybar more than this year but still it was brilliant. Then Dubfire came on and i could not believe what i was hearing. His set was just TOTAL MADNESS. Anyone just please id the tunes that he played.. ANY OF THE TUNES. it was just an epic set. just tune after tune after tune. Lawler ended the night like the ing legend he is with a crazy remix of big fun.. I could not believe that it was finished just like that. An unbelievable night. Torontonians are by far the most friendly people i have come across. no wonder Lawler is such a big fan of the city. VIVA TORONTO!:crazy: :crazy: |

I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled on Monday, and wanna recover before I go on the boat cruise on Sunday....stay at least one more week.
I'll come early, we'll have breakfast and then go to the cruise? :):) |

Yeah you need at least a few days to recover from getting them pulled.
I thought I was hardcore enough and tried going out the NIGHT of, barely made it out of the house. Give it a few days.;) |
