lol. you got maybe 3 subgenres of house in spurts but for most part, it was typical samey type of house that is the flavour of the month

GRINDHOUSE vs. SMOKEMACHNE FTW....loved it...

Got to see everything I wanted to... Kill The Noise and LA Riots in the Drink was hipsterific and drunktastic... already came off a Dubfire set from DEMF so seeing him inside was not a priority, but really really wanted to experience a sunrise set with Lawler and was very intrested to see what Dubfire would play if he did one... Got upstairs around 4:30 or so, stayed there rest of the night, wasn't chancing missing out. Great tunes, fun people, met some dope new people, saw some old friends as well...

Everything besides having to take care of my friend and get him to the car so he can pass out because someone G'd his drank and almost not being let back in the club after...

Sound and lighting is not that great on this one, but it gives you and idea of the Drink that night...

meh, I wouldn't go as far to say that.

Lawler on skybar 2005 still wins.

this was definately not even close to the party of the year. whoever claims that clearly needs to get out more. there is nothing I can say about this party that Karlo hasn't already said. Lawler did not impress me in the slightest. I used to consider Lawler as being up front and on the ball in terms of variety and playing what's cool. His new sound has become bland and quite generic. There is nothing Lawler did that distinguished HIMSELF as the dj. Lawler is definately losing it a bit as a dj.

somehow I don't think you can tell people which party of the year is their party of the year.

:D

So it's been a week and I've had time to gather thoughts and process it all. Overall a good night.. but let's break it down:

Got there fairly early; not much of a lineup. Guv Main Room was pretty empty up until 11:30. It became a zoo once Fanciulli came on. I was pretty occupied trying to find a decent amount of space to dance that I didn't take many photos... Probably for the better. Managed to find some space at the very back. Sound was horrible in the Main Room. It was so heinous that I found it difficult to enjoy any of the sets in there.

As for Sky Bar... Going into this party thinking that it wouldn't be extremely crowded is just retarded. Anyone complaining about the crowd should know better... but even so I found myself doing this a lot. I just couldn't deal! Had a few instances where I made room for myself and friends by butt slamming. We need to love our lives 2008 so move... PLEASE! :p Sound up here wasn't the greatest either, but definately better. Left 15 minutes before the show ended because my feet were destroyed. Don't think I stopped moving the entire night! It was a scary sight up there after sunrise... :nervous:

Nic Fanciulli's set didn't quite reach the level of expectation I had for him the last time I saw him in February. This time was no different. Too many inconsistent ups and downs. Not sure where he was taking us with his set for the first hour or so. As I mentioned earlier.. the sound factor didn't help either. Towards the end of his set I was eating my words. Relentless - chuggy - choo - choo - prog trains! This was the Fanciulli I was waiting for... the one who teased me with his recent sets. And this was just a warmup.. his set the next day was something else!... But let's leave that for another thread ;)

Steve Lawler... usually full of surprises... lawler house gems.. I didn't find any treasure; recycled jewels and overused shirts! lol. But I was hoping for a set similar to his Space Opener...and that's what I got.. almost exactly! Like others have said, it was almost the same set, with the same opening track by Tigerskin. Sure it was a recycled set, but a great one! For those who hadn't heard the Space set they must of thought it was a treat. Hearing those tunes live left my feet motionless... until they kicked ass. Track of the night...played 3 times was

Ante Perry vs. Tube and Berger - Affentanz

Love this track!! Never got tired of hearing it. Those trippy monkeys on shrooms shrieking was hilarious!! It was fun times trying to join in on the monkey antics. I'm sure we must of scared/annoyed/scared a load of peeps, especially the skasians! LOL. I don't care... I loved my monkey life 2008!

After his set came to a closure I skipped out on hearing the Dubby one to catch some Lee and check out the skybar. Lee Osborne.. doesn't matter what the circumstances are...in any environment... his sound rocks! I may have enjoyed his set more than anyone else's up there. Some great tech to the house into techno slam. Peace! The firework show started towards the end of his set.. and it was perfect. The tracklist with those flashy specs in the sky as the backdrop left me smiling. And what more... right when the fireworks started, he was dropping my current favourite track. Heard it a few months ago... and it gave me chills. Could not...repeat not contain my excitement as this was dropped..

Danton Eeprom - Face Control

WOW!!!!!! The build up in this song is intensely creepy as it crawls up on you from every angle... and when it hits unexpectedly.. time to bust it. Only negative thing to add was that the sound didn't do the track any justice that it deserves. Ah well.

I put on my lawlerskates once the man came up to his rightful throne. Was expecting sunrise funky electro prog... didn't get much of this. A bit disappointed actually... took the lawlerskates off. A bit too much on the techy side.. vibe wasn't that great when everyone's frowning from the pushing. Messy.

Dubfire came on... and I don't have many nice things to say about this one either. No direction. Boring dubiness. Grindhouse came on!!....but it was a bad remix. Original please! I wanted to hear some funky Dub like I did last year. Would of set the tone perfect. 3 strikes for me.. Don't think I'll be giving him another chance anytime soon.

Friends helped to make it GTs. Had a blast... didn't have time recover for the boat, but managed. Nothing beats Skybar 2005 :)
