I know EXACTLY how you feel. I got that way with "It's A Swede Thing" after last year's sunrise set. |

| So I finally gave Nic Fanciulli a chance, and let me say, that boy has some talent! Sick beats! Enjoyed him way more than Lawler in the main room.... After listening to Lawlers set from the Space opening party many times in the past month, I found it hard to get into his main room set, seein as aside from the intro, it was pretty much the excact same set. But knowing Lawler and the way he plays skybar, It didnt bother me.... I knew he had something else up his sleeve. The tunes he played on skybar were nasty! Pure twisted, Lawler madness!! Too bad the crowd up there sucked!!! At a certain point I began to wonder if poeple were there to enjoy the music and dance, or just walk in ing circles all night.. People need to find a spot, and just dance... nothing is more aggervating than being bumped into constanly when ur trying to enjoy the music. Def. enjoyed myself more in the past years I have been to guv on Canada day. |

Got in around 11 after chilling out at Barb's for a bit (thanks Barb). No lineup at all. Walked around for a bit getting in the mood.
Didn't expect the type of set Fanciulli played, but that guy delivered. Prog bombs are good.
1st hour of Lawler was good, but 2nd hour was a bit meh. So I walked around a lot. Caught a bit of Laidback Luke but the crowd was too much.
Hung around Kool Haus and caught a lot of Benga, ShyFX and DJ Hype. Impressive stuff, especially earlier in the night when some dude played some liquid funk DnB. Generally I found KH had better vibe than any other room, people just having fun (and lots of space to dance!) Though seeing some Skasians trying to grind to DnB was a lot of laughs.
Couldn't stand the sardine can that was main room, so hung out with Ben and Jason in the balcony during Lawler's set. I think that was the best place to hang out if you didn't like being shoved around.
Didn't hang around for Dubfire's set because I wanted to find a spot in Skybar before it got nuts and... well, worse than main room. Almost lost my temper. Tune wise, this year's set was better than last year, but the vibe was definitely better last year than this year. Might be something to do with all the hype and bring out the other people who aren't into the music as much. Grindhouse and Total Departure was pretty cool. People being really into it.
Seeing the conditions of some people around 8am after they put in a hard night of workout is something amusing. Except Blackness. That man is a machine.
Last 45mins of Dubfire vs Lawler was pretty good but then, just as the tune really started to get good, it was closing time. Oh well.
As much as this year's set was decent and I enjoyed chilling out with friends, I don't think I'll do another Skybar set again.

Now that this party is over, did anyone get any info about the upcoming summer 'special' location?

Will be this year too, and hopefully many more to come.. I love Toronto
However due to venue shortage and me wanting to keep things fresh.. the 1st gig this year will be in the summer at the guv, as its the Album "VIVA Toronto" Launch, with main room and skybar sessions..
the next gig that will follow at the end of the summer is going to be somewhere special
hope this helps

Now was anyone else disappointed by a lack of variety in music on an all access event?
4 rooms playing house. I love house but meh. |

^^^ I made the trip precisely because I knew that I would get house in all its forms.
4th of July was yesterday... Independence Day was blah here in the states... I am turning Canadian. Your holidays are much better ;) |

I recorded some of that so I might upload it too. It's about 5 minutes or so.
I also uploaded the Steve Lawler segment from Skybar.
