Exactly what I was trying to say, I dont think I said anything bad and I think 85 percent agree with us but I MUST add I saw Guetta in Vegas and SD and the crowd and vibe was much much better in LA its real bad.

Dont forget, Vegas, Miami, San Diego, New York all have completely different club scenes.

LA is the only one where three massive clubs have big headlining DJs competing, along side tons of "Hollywood" and "Hipster" club drawing most of the hotties.

Vegas, Miami, San Diego and New York are mostly "Hollywood" type clubs competing with each other, with the occasional big DJ, but most of the time it's a local DJ. Luckally all three have had more major DJs come by, but nowhere near as close as LA's scene.

I have never ever seen a club anywhere on the globe be as stuffy and disgusting inside as I have seen at Vanguard.

...and yet you still go :)

In LA they just want $$$$ they don't care about anything else I have a theory on why.. In Vegas and Miami they serve alcohol all night as to LA till 2. They figure the amount of people they reject wont bother them because they will sell a lot more alcohol because they are open longer with no restrictions. I have never ever seen a club anywhere on the globe be as stuffy and disgusting inside as I have seen at Vanguard.

its a tough balancing act. put in a dress code and then you may alienate the clubber that goes to vanguard regularly instead of the people that show up 1x a year for Guetta or Sasha or Bob Sinclar becaues they heard its the cool thing to do.

a new club would cost $10-$20 million minimum to build and basically will not happen in Hollywood for the forseeable future due to various reasons.

the Fox Theater venue (what was originally to be Crobar LA) may provide a more upscale environment, but as its occupancy is smaller than both Vanguard and Avalon it will have a hard time drawing in really big names and they can't afford to pay them what the others can.

in conclusion

saturday was overpriced and overpacked but it was easily top 3 parties of the year easily...and surprisingly enough Guetta wasn't playin the cheese i thought he would typically...minimum vocals FTW...!

the last time i remember seeing a party like that in LA was probably the 1st Morrilo at Avalon this year for memorial...sucha beautiful crowd wow...

the party was insane it felt like Vegas....

and nobody has on the party scene in LA ...just think about starting from October this year and wat talent has come thru the past 8 weekends ....in mind boggling, and were not even done with the year yet......

Drew how much was there at our table man?

kkkkkkkk lol

Did they remove the vip booths off the dance floor for this event, or are they just smothered with people? Also, were the other 2 rooms also playing guetta?

The bartenders must have made a killing that night!

An hour after opening, it was so packed they didn't let anyone without table service wristbands on the side table area. I got caught in the middle and it was like a traffic jam, took me 10 minutes just to get from one side to the other!

lol werd

the booths were stll there and in full effect...bottle minimums were originally 2 minimum but eventually got bumped up to 4 bottles soldout a week before the event...money talks, bull walks homey...

for a dance club nobody besides Tiesto can pull that off....and it wasnt evena big weekend or anything...

And as of now Vanguard is #36 in the dj Mag Top Club list. When you check out the competition that's not bad. Vangaurd is pretty in awesome venue when you break down all the qualities it has.

I don't go to vanguard anymore because they pull this overselling+overpricing all the time. It's ridiculous.

I hope more people will stop going so that it makes an impact, but I doubt its going to happen...

Same with me. Every time it feels like a sweaty, sloppy, cramped venue.
The place has lost most of its appeal.

FYI, LA's scene sucks compared to NY, Toronto, and Miami. The crowd and vibe are sub par.
