that was the most annoying thing. just made the class feel sloppy with these poorly dressed idiots living on campus.

in certain colleges and universities in the states they are now enforcing business casual attire to class in any business program

I pull this look off quite nicely, but they're usually nice, flashy shirts.

I like scarfs in general, I hope by this spring/summer they will have them in different colors instead, solid colors

+1

Scarves for the win. Julio agrees.

I'm completely cool with casual. Hell, I was an engineer, back then I wouldn't exactly have called myself well-dressed. But there's casual (jeans and t-shirt) and then there's slovenly (pajamas, $2 shower flip-flops, neck beards, bed hair, etc.) I mean really, I know you only live 3 minutes away but you're still out in public.

Not a fan of the track suits either, unless you're actually a runner. That's forgivable though - at least it looks sort of clean.

Lots of people that wear suits in the business program at U of T do it because they have presentations or interviews. We don't really do it just because. I'm sure it's the same at Schulich.

Although it's been already said,

The average Caucasian female university student's mid-September-May ensemble:

- Hat to shield unkempt hair
- Hoodie (preferably Holister or Gap)
- Track pants
- Ugg boots (with track pants tucked into the boots)

These uniforms come out at the first minute sign of cold weather, and stay on until the end of the year.

Honestly I can understand these when it's REALLY cold, or during final exam season, but I see this being worn way too much. It's quite unflattering.

I can't believe people actually leave their house wearing this!

Another one is Lulu lemon athletic pants (or any other athletic gear in general) being worn anywhere else but the gym.

I remember when I was working at Canadian Tire one summer in the garden centre, these were sold as gardening shoes (what the design was intended for, I think). Then people started coming in and buying them like crazy and I was like.. wot da f..? then I saw them in shoe store windows.. I remember thinking to myself, how did gardening shoes somehow become 'trendy' footwear.. lol, ridiculous.

I would accept the wearing of these in following two situations:

1) when gardening, or

2) if you're standing on a kitchen floor or other hard surface all day.
When I worked at a brasserie - aka'coffee bar', we were behind the counter most of the time and I knew a girl, one of the baristas, wear them.. because otherwise she'd get a bad back from standing on tile all day. even though I know people would tend to disagree with me and say well why doesn't she invest in shoes designed for comfort like Eccos, you don't exactly make a lot of coin working that end of the ski industry, so i think it's forgiveable. :)

I have a friend also with one of those scarves you guys are talking about too, except she got it when she went to join an excavation team in Jordan last summer - working 16 hours in the hot sun all day you need to stay covered up so you don't cook - before the Rachel Ray incident (I think), and before she even *remotely* knew they were 'fashionable' in the west. Then came back to Canada, and everyone was wearing them by then.

I used to not like skinny jeans, but I don't mind them now. :) Umm the only trends I think I really hate is guys with baggy pants, and leggings under stuff for girls. I guess they look OK on some people, but I think I've always felt they were a little ridiculous.. I actually tried wearing leggings once, and I felt so uncomfortable out in public with them I had to take them off.. I felt like I was wearing underwear showing in public, hahaha.. they feel like longjohns O.o

Yeah... sounds exactly like Laurier girls. Either that or people are SUPER done up with makeup and stuff, or a combo of the two. Laurier girls though = people who put on full makeup to go to the gym, and who look dressed for the gym most of the time, or like they just walked out of a shift at AE/Hollister. Balance, people, balance. Oh, and maybe a dash of variety would be nice.

But this is where I step away from the generalizations and digress.. haha.. obviously there are exceptions.. like I need to even say that.

I wear stuff like this sometimes too, but if it's something I'd wear only at home I won't wear it to class ('loungewear' ie. sweatpants), and I wear some of the American Eagle and Gap stuff - it's super comfy and especially with gap stuff I find it lasts an age, which I like.. but I don't dig wearing identical outfits every day. I'm not a fashionable person by far, but I do enjoy diversity in the wardrobe. :)
preppie chick
LOL!

and my UGGs too, obvi..
