Not really. He ran Ferrari F1 for 10 years (beneton before that?), he knows exactly what it takes to run a championship winning team, and to build a crappy team to win championships. It would much harder for a driver (Prost) to start a team. All the infrastructure was already there, and the car has been in development under his watch for the last year. All he needed really was the right financing, which he obviously found.

the cars will take some getting used to with the narrow, higher rear wing and the lower, wider front spoiler.

and with KERS giving an 82hp boost per lap on triggering, this is actually gonna be interesting...

I guess u guys already read about the championship being decided based on number of wins instead of points...

It's one thing to run someone else's team, it's totally another to put your own money up to finance it

The fun thing so far is that the Brawn car doesn't have Kers installed - there's lead ballast instead. They aren't running Kers at all this season since it's not mandatory and would have been too much to adapt the Mercedes engine & kers to the Honda chassis. They're fastest now (and I hope it stays like that for a while!) but Renault are running their kers starting in Melbourne and Alonso has been quick in the latest testing too. It will be interesting to see how everyone squares off against eachother with some pretty different rules from last year. Nobody could really run an evolution car.

I like what they've done with the scoring system too, though I think I would have preferred the FOTA proposal to give more points for first place.

As for the cars, I think the main chassis look great with fewer winglets, but the front and rear wings look goofy. They'll take some serious getting used to.

They remind me of the early 70's cars:

1976 Brabham Alfa-Romeo
Paulinho
MOTOGP > F1 any day of the week, year, decade etc...
