alright lets get back to domestic policies then

first off, when Chelsea wins anything internationally come talk to me, even with the likes of Vialli and Zola you guys couldnt do anything.

Italy (in terms of all teams combined) is the best nation in CL history (11 won, 14 runners up)...Spain second, England third.

Last team to win back-to-back titles = an italian team (Milan, 89 & 90)

eat it

Well ur stats are true but Spain and Enland won the trophy 11 times too. What is important is who won the CL title the most and nobody can argue that Real Madrid is the best European team although I hate them but you gonna admit that the Italian league performance has gone down. 5-7 years ago the Italian league used to be considered the best league in the world due to the competency of several teams in the league. Now, with no doubt the best domestic league is the Premiership and if you look in the last 2 years, 3 English teams made it to the Semi Final but Chelsea are Chokers, they didn't prove themselves yet although they made it to the semifinal twice and final in the last three years.

If you are a Chelsea fan, you should be praying that Manchester doesn't win because this will mean another CL loss. Red Devils 4 the win ;)

This is true, but Italy had 14 runner ups, to spains 9 and englands 5. Vice-champions of europe is still important.

You are right that the past 5-6 years Seria A has gone down, the scandal did not help.

Again, you are judging the EPL on the 4 best teams (Chel, Arsn, Man and Pool) the rest of the teams are not that good. Look at the gap between 4th and 5th (Arsenal and Everton = 10 points). The league is not exciting because of this. The teams are built around indivuduals and not based on team unity. Its just foriegn money being pumped in left and right....this is my opinion, you think the EPL is the best you have a right to do so.

Sorry but i fall asleep when its teams like Wigan and Fulham playing

But still, if you at the Premiership, you will see the 3-4 teams are still in the title race and are always competing (Man, Liver, Chels & Arse). Look at the Italian League, Inter is 7 points ahead Milan and Juv. Look at the Spanish league for the past 3-4 years, it is only Real Madrid and Barcelona and I m sure it is gonna stay like this for a while.

You are 100 % right, it is the foreign money that made teams like Arsenal and Chelsea rise up lately and soon maybe Manchester City but I totally disagree that a game between Wigan and Everton would be boring. The Italian League is currently lacking something, I cannot tell what it is, maybe the scandals, maybe the focus/priorities, you can tell that the first priority of the English teams is to win titles but it seem to me that the managers of the Italian teams are looking more for making money, for example Milan buying Beckham. Do you think they need him, I would rather buy a good striker/defender, they already have kaka, Dindo…hopefully Milan will be on the right track next season.

To me the most "in depth" solid league is the spanish league, they have competitive teams even if in the standings it doesnt show, at each game you cant choose a winner for sure, you expect a team to come up, but with the likes or Athletico Madrid,Valencia, Sevilla, Real Espanyol, etc besides the two known power in Real Madrid and Barcelona, from what i've seen a lot of teams have tied or come close to pull upsets against those 2, if im not mistaken (im not gonna go on wiki or anywhere to check for this ish,too lazy fock it) madrid finished like 4th or at the very least for a good team during the season, madrid wasnt in the 3.

No Bundesliga love here? No Hanover 96 fans?

exactly, you see the SAME 3-4 teams in the top 3 (in the past 10 years, it has always been the same teams excluding 91 where leeds came 3rd  ) Italy had like 5 or 6 different champions with others being runners up

we can go back and forth, the leagues are complete opposite of each other, just a matter of taste i guess. I just dont like how there is hardly any english talent on ENGLISH teams + ENGLISH premier league. Feel bad for the english national sqaud where young talent cannot flourish. The league has sold its soul to foreigners, plain and simple.

Rather have a scandal every 20 years and keep my soul ;)

i agree with trancesission and he makes a good point about how stretched out serie A and la liga are, compared to EPL...even if he's a red deviler....in the EPL the race is usually the closest in the top 4 compared to any other leagues

and ya...I was gonna say, bundasliga has been crazy this year! Bayern isn't the dominant side they were before, and interesting things going on in the title race there, with teams like Wolfsburg and Hertha Berlin in the title chase. But that league definitely lacks the world class quality in players seen elsewhere, but it can still make it entertaining to watch. PS: Where is Ribbery going next year!!

Like trancision said, a wigan fulham or whoever game can be quiet exciting, because you actually have teams that are equally matched and fighting hard to save points or keep off relegation...they're more excited about playing against a team they have a chance in beating rather than getting wooped by united or les blues.

I have to agree with you, La Liga has always been a solid league where very smart and football-knowledge individuals are running the show. They have always had great stars, not as much as england and italy, but there is a reason for that = piority for their spanish players. With great youth development camps, spanish players flourish into soccer giants (look at the spanish national team, probably one of the best teams in history). Furthermore, soccer in Spain is like soccer in Italy, its heavy culture mainstream, where its all locals runniung the teams, a real sense of community.

And like you said, theres other teams that are very good. The yellow submarine and Dep de la Cor, can be added to your list.

One of the craziest games i've seen was this year, where barcalona was against last place team, or bottom table team (think it was during the winter). The team was playing amazing, and were winning, crowd going nuts....but then messi just took over the game....amazing goals

MESSI is a god...

to your last post, 84th ave - the EPL is hardly an English league anymore, you'd be a fool to think it has some sort of English "soul" and to deny the fact that it is in fact the most watched and followed league in the entire world. The EPL has sold probably 50x in international TV rights than any other league in the world, this is why they are so wealthy and you'd be shocked at how much money even the teams in the bottom 10 get from EPL in lump sum payments as their share of media revenues. This is also why it has become so attractive to foreign investors, rich guys who are in it for the glory more than the money...it's probably the ultimate status symbol to own an EPL club.

....EPL is very international and that is what makes it so great and exciting to watch, it's the world's best players. I guess it's a double edged sword if you want your league to have some sort of domestic identity..but I think EPL gave that up 10+ years ago, and personally I think they did the right thing both financially and in terms of having the best league around! :P

But I do respect Seria A, La Liga, and also bundasliga for keeping things at home with most of the players, owners, and coaching staff. I think it wouldn't be fun if every league in the world sold out like EPL....speaking of which, the Ukrainian league seems to be following the EPL footsteps. Our recent UEFA cup success, with Dynamo and Shaktar Donetsk becoming strong teams on the international stage is the result of gobbling up a few foreign players. Cant wait for the all ukrainian semis!!!

so it was a good thing then? well coming from a person like you, who loves soccer and lives in canada, ya of course this is excellent. You see some of the best players (brought in only for $ playing against each other). Your not english, why would you be concerned.

TV rights...yes, if your man u and the rest of the big guns. Face it, even small teams, the EPL is all quick making money investors who pour $ into a team, buying players to insert into their team, not building a unit

look at Genoa, a team with no funds, not even a sporting director, and they revamped their team spending only 25 million, bringing in 13 players that mesh together, and now are 1 point from 4th

thats soccer
elFreak
The Epl may not be an "English League" anymore, but the reason so much money gets thrown at it, is for the simple reason that more coverage is offered in the English language therefore saving the need to assign coverage to the games as they are already broadcast in the language of choice.
