How many times do we need to tell you that this is about the LTTE, and not Tamils? I mean here you are telling me I'm not keeping it civil, but you've been beaten over the head with this point three or four times now and you still don't get it. What are we supposed to think? |
you're one of the few people talking about the LTTE in particular.
take a look back in the thread and tally how many times "Tigers" or "LTTE" were the subject as opposed to "Tamils". |

the fact that the Tamils call themselves so is because of their separatist attitude. the LTTE being the militant backing they support to achieve this. Did you see any Sri Lankan flags in any of the protests? |

Diluting the shares lowers the share price. You knew that, right? Right??
|
obviously but increases shareholders equity once new ones are issued as public offerings. take a look at any balance sheet. When common shares are increased the shareholders equity goes up.

OK, you've gotta be doing this on purpose now. I mean it's like referring to Hamas members as just Palestinians, or IRA members as Irish. There are over 70 million Tamils and I think the LTTE has maybe a few thousand active members. |
few thousand? there were a few thousand simply protesting in toronto.
that doesnt make sense does it? |

is it safe to say that while all LTTE members are Tamil, not all Tamils are Tigers?
or was there an LTTE flag for every single person in the protest?
is "Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam" synonymous with "Tamils", considering that the one label is political while the other is ethnic? |

You see the picture of the guy in the camouflage that they had during the protests on university?
his name is Velupillai Prabhakaran...the leader of the tigers. here read some...I guess biased if you wish, info on him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velupillai_Prabhakaran
now why would Tamils not supporting this person thats a wanted felon associate themselves with the group that is? there would've been 2 separate groups right? didn't seem so.
In the case of these protests alone, its more than likely these Tamils ARE supporters of the LTTE considering that they haven't woken up to say anything/demonstrate until now when LTTE is on the verge of non existence.
It's sad that their self proclaimed sovereign region (by virtue of a flag) has weapons and so much anger in it.
If they really wanted peace in Sri Lanka, they would proudly hold up the Sri Lankan flag and ask for aid in abolishing LTTE once and for all....but no..they want freedom from Sri Lanka and stand by the Tamil Eelam which really doesn't exist.
Ok I now lost track of what my point was...its time to watch the idiot box. |

I've finally decided to post in this thread, and all I'm going to say are the following two things:
1. every decision (including inaction) relating to foreign relations is solely money oriented; end of story. (this includes kosovo, tamil eelam, palestine, etc)
2. blocking the gardiner is realy in lame |

ive been caught in traffic a few times being downtown becuase of this ..
why couldnt they stand around in dundas square like they used to.. or go infront of the consulate of sri lanka
also, what most of you dont know is that they CAN -by law- protest on roads and highways, but it must be shared with traffic.
in this case, there wasnt any sharing. |

Lets say I had a flight to catch and was driving there and got caught in this mess. I miss my flight and have to pay some kind of fee for re-booking. Or I was only going for a few days and now I cant and its a non-refundable ticket.
Who would I go to, to get my money back? The LTTE? |
