Tortured Ugandan Political Prisoner Wishes Uganda Had Oil
April 23, 2003
KAMPALA, UGANDA—A day after having his hands amputated by soldiers backing President Yoweri Museveni's brutal regime, Ugandan political prisoner Otobo Ankole expressed regret Monday over Uganda's lack of oil reserves. "I dream of the U.S. one day fighting for the liberation of the oppressed Ugandan people," said Ankole as he nursed his bloody stumps. "But, alas, our number-one natural resource is sugar cane." Ankole, whose wife, parents, and five children were among the 4,000 slaughtered in Uganda's ethnic killings of 2002, then bowed his head and said a prayer for petroleum.

I really wonder how the police failed to prevent (3000?) of them from getting onto the Gardiner in the first place. From what I understand the protests have been closely monitored by the police who have been tracking their activity & movement, albeit even more so now in light of all this.

Lets say I had a flight to catch and was driving there and got caught in this mess. I miss my flight and have to pay some kind of fee for re-booking. Or I was only going for a few days and now I cant and its a non-refundable ticket.
Who would I go to, to get my money back? The LTTE? |
You would suck it up, for the same reason that you suck up every other cause of traffic, ie. car accidents, volume, car fires, people on the shoulder, road closures, etc. |

which are all accidents. This was not an accident. This was an illegal activity done by a bunch of welfare collecting losers.
WTF do they want from Canada? Lets face it, unless Sri Lanka has a load of oil or unless there is something in it for US noone will ever go there. Why do these people think that other countries are just gonna go interfere in every civil war? |

What's stupid is how ridiculous you all sound for being a bunch of cry babies.
When someone gets in a car accident and you finally pass them after they've pulled off on the shoulder, do you get out, ask whose fault it was, and then demand compensation for your time? Do you ask them for the $25 missed appointment fee, or the rebooking charge on your flight, or the $10 in gas you wasted sitting in traffic?

No, but no one intentionally gets in a car accident to disrupt other peoples lives...you can manage your time accordingly regarding high volume times on the highway...you can check the forecast to see if the roads will be bad and adjust your travel time...there's not much you can do in planning for a mob of maniacs |
