I want Bob to trade guys for picks so we can finish lower and pick up some good prospects with earlier draft picks. This is one of the worst Montreal Canadiens teams that i have seen in a very long time.
They won last night sure, but in reality they did not play well enough to deserve even 1 point against one of the worst teams in the league. We are about to play some big teams, and i have a feeling that we will see how badly we are outclassed.
I am pretty sure that this will be Bob's last year as GM, if not it is going to be a long next few years. We have some great prospects on the farm, and if we pick up just a few more, by the time Louis Leblanc is done school we can compete for a championship.
The fire sale needs to be done now for this to happen imo. |

| ya we have great kids waiting their turn but no vets to teach them the ropes. plus with the salary cap, we're already tied up with the mini-me line-up and we havent signed Pleky and Price. all this = more years of misery. |

IS IT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR A BIG CENTER????

louis leblanc might be the answer.
get rid of money for picks, take 2nd rounders.
with the youth we have now in Hamilton, add 2 or 3 more blue chip prospects and bam a powerhouse in the making.
i still can't believe they gave away ryan macdonaugh for an 8 million a year contract.
If a new gm comes in i am pretty sure that the contract for gomez will be bought out. He is painfully horrible, turns over the puck so much he is at the top of the turnover list in the nhl....argggh we took an alexei yashin from another new york team and will end up paying for it the next while even if he does not play for us.
If we put him on waivers and someone claims him, we are only stuck paying 50% of his salary.
I don't mean to be rude with the following comment: bob gainey should have given up his post when his daughter died, because it is painfully obvious that his heart is not in it, and since that day he has been a worse gm than rejean houle.
houle traded st patrick...you gotta be pretty bad to top that. |

what do u think about gionta and cammeleri?
i say we keep both of them but drop gomez as well, clear up some salary space and see who we can get with the $$$ |

gionta and gomez are a package.
gionta is a very good player and should be our captain, as you can see he is the one that wears his heart on his sleeve on this team. The thing is with the system the habs are playing the lack of size simply does not work. Gomez/Gionta/Cammo go in the corner and get pushed off of the puck like they were insects.
Bob ed up big time, because that is a lot of cash he threw at them.
Gionta + big center and winger = win
without = 5 foot 7 just does not cut it anymore.
Cammo + big center to feed him the puck = winner.
Cammo + other midets = they don't even have to give him double coverage to take away his shot because gomez will give it away and he won't take one.
Right now our only real asset trade wise would be halak to a team that is not bad and needs goaltending + 2nd rounder + utility player in the minors for a 1st round pick.
aint gonna happen though, because all of the GM's in the league know that bob messed up and are not going to give him fair value.
The only trade he has won since he has been here is the craig rivet trade. |

| i say we move canadiens to quebec change the name to nordiques... move tampa bay to montreal and change name to canadiens... at least we have something to work with... and nordiques will be as bad as they were in all their history lol |

i made a mistake, pleks is our biggest trade bait as both he and halak are free agents at the end of the year.
Plecks will be the only free agent under 30.
Quebec will get a hockey team back if they go through with the planned new arena. The only reason that balsilie (spelling?) could not bring a team to hamilton is because the nhl had to defend the leafs veto rights.
Montreal would not veto a return to Quebec like the Leafs did(do you blame them, an expansion team is better than those perennial losers)...i will bet you anything that before lets say 2015, there are 2 nhl teams in the province.
The habs know that a quebec team would not eat into their fan base and that they could profit if the nordiques came back more than they already do via the transfer fees.
It is bad enough we have to pay gomez....imagine that as the 3rd highest valued team (according to a forbes article last week) in the nhl, we have to pay a portion for the coyotes that have a better team than us. |

close game last night... typical of MTL to drop a goal with 10 seconds left...
I think Halak trade is imminent this year. He's ready to be the #1 for an NHL team. Pleks, I dunno man, I used to say trade him back in the day but recently ive been impressed.
are you sure gionta and gomez is a packaged deal? cant we keep gionta and cammeleri but drop gomez for someone else |

| We can't drop Gomez. A) we'll give the image to the league that we're a very unstable player. B) We got him because we were very desperate. Most likely Halak + Chipchura + Dagostini will drop in a trade for someone. |
