they don't have the best goaltending in the nhl, but are still 11th on the least goals against in the nhl which is more than enough if you have the most goals per game in the league. They have the 3rd least goals against in the conference behind boston and the devils.
the caps have a lot of youth i would take, but not going to happen. |
When it comes to playoffs you need top goaltending...you know its a totally different style of hockey come playoff time. Goaltending is the difference between winning and loosing the cup.
The only other possibility I see right now is Philly. |

i took it back see above. I did not realize that the caps have a bit of wiggle room cap wise. The only way i can see bob doing any move would have to include shedding some salary at the same time (no choice).
Philly seems out of the question because of that. My kingdom for Scott Hartnell though...wishful thinking. |

I've been listening to CKAC yesterday and they asked people "Who do you think are the top 3 players so far this year?"
I was curious to see what do you guys think
Here's my 0.02
1) Ovechkin, because of his stats, his devotion and his "Highlight-reel" type of play. I believe his the most exciting player in NHL history... well him and bure.
2) Crosby, I'm surprised at his goal scoring capabilities. He took the charge of the team when Malkin started to play not to his fullest potential.
3) Miller/Halak/Brodeur/Bryzgalov. Thanks to these 4 goalies the teams have a chance to go to the playoffs. |

well theodore = hart + vezina + scored a goal...
i know he had rough times and sucked hard for a looooong period, but he proved he can pull a rabbit out of his ass. Just align the planets correctly for it to happen.
price no, downward spiral since day 1.
i'd choose theodore to be honest. |

the caps would be buying halak if they went for a goalie, because acquiring a goalie at this point of the season means they want a run at a cup this year .
Theo is THE reason the caps got bounced last year, he sucked big time.
I'll take a 22 year old in a downward spiral over a 34 year old in a downward spiral near the end of his career.
Theo will never play in montreal again, forget about that...not after everything that happened. Don't need it at all.
Price is 22 years old, at 22 he should be in the ahl, but bob messed up by letting him play too many games. |

i'm talking if i was the capitals.
i wouldn't want price at all.
better stick with theo and develop my young goalies.
in the playoffs theo is a hit or miss was my point. Better than a guaranteed miss. |

Price is Bob's guy....I think Halak will be moved instead of price.
Theodore is nothing close to what he use to be and he may steal a game for you in the playoffs but he isn't going to be a series saver. Halak has shown that he can win games on his own and I think he could win a series himself...which most likely he wouldn't have to do on a team like Washington.
The hard part about the trade is that montreal will probably have to take back a goalie in the trade and Theodore is probably what washington will give up as he is UFA. |

it wont happen at 4.5 million a year..not enough cap room.
i don't think bob does anything and lets the next gm deal with it. |

anyways it would be stupid for canadiens to trade halak to capitals and then try to fight for 8th spot...
you are giving more power to a team you will confront in series for sure. |
