cause it's also admitting he made a mistake canning carbo (cause carbo always said price was not ready to be number one yet). |

| Gainey hasn't made a mistake in the past with price ( other then bringing him too quickly to the nhl ). I take any day Price over Huet that's for sure. I think that Price is sic and tired of Montreal and the media with the Idea that he's the "second-comming-of-patrick". |

if they don't trade one of the goalies and another team signs them to an offer sheet (they are RFA) this is roughly what we will get.
The current expected RFA compensation table for 2008-09 is:
Amount
Compensation Due
$863,156 or less
None
$863,156 - $1,307,811
3rd round pick
$1,307,811 - $2,615,623
2nd round pick
$2,615,623 - $3,923,434
1st and 3rd round pick
$3,923,434 - $5,231,246
1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick
$5,231,246 - $6,539,061
Two 1st's, one 2nd, one 3rd round pick
$6,539,061 or more
Four 1st round picks
The actual numbers will be posted when the NHL releases the figures on or about June 30. |

| They will trade Halak, and I truly hope they trade Halak. Don't get me wrong, I prefer Halak over Price because of his maturity and determination. Imagine we trade price and Halak has a 4 game losing streak... two days later you'll see 5 death threats for gainey.. |

| price is not to blame for the loss at all...the team played like and a goalie can't win a game if his team does not score. |

Agreed, just hate the fact that he's tripping over everything |

Can Halak become the next Thomas Vokoun.
Vokoun was drafter by Montreal in the 9th round and today he goes into the top 5 goal tenders in the nhl IMO |

Even if we limp into the playoffs and lose in 4-5-6 games, Gainey's gone. He even said it at the beginning of the year, this year was a test of his GM skills and if he failed, he would pay the price.
Trading Halak or Price isn't going to fix this team. |

no, but Halak is not going to get signed for over 2.6 million a year...which means the highest amount of compensation we can receive for him is a second round pick in the off season. We can get a better deal now to a team still in the hunt that needs a goalie. If Price stays, Halak will sign with another team, because he wants a starters job.
The funniest thing about all of this "controversy" in net is that it has always been this way here. Look at Patrick Roy.
Even if he was the biggest reason the Habs won the cup in 86, he didn't right out become the number 1 until after the 89 playoff run. In those 3 seasons he split the workload almost evenly with Brian Hayward. In those seasons he played: 47, 46, 45 games.
I'm not even sure we should do it (trade Halak), because Halak is obviously our only shot at making the playoffs.
We will find out if Carey is going to be dominant in 2 to 3 years...until then he is still just a baby. The goalie position has always been one that takes younger guys longer to mature, because it is simply the position with the most pressure. Add the fact that is is in Montreal, times the pressure by 10. |

| Next year it's going to be most likely cedric desjardin with Price or the other veteran golie that we have signed not too long ago |
