You can also do other things aside from that when hanging out and kicking back beers. I don't see why it's absolutely necessary for everybody to own a video game in some capacity, nor for you to "be concerned" or whatever if they don't.

Yea cause the Key Peninsula is full of places to go and things to do.

Shut your mouth, you been out there. We either spin or play video games.

Well sure, on the KP it makes sense. Don't take what happens out there and apply it to broad generalizations next time.

Honestly in this day and age I'd be worried about a guy who doesn't have at least a passing interest in video games... Especially one that doesn't own any console or have few games on the computer he likes to play.

That just seems like the guy might be a bit boring...

Oi!
Schadenfreude
video games are only fun in groups. They can be a great way to wind down the night while having a bit of fun and indulging in random shenanigans.

playing them solo for 46 hours at a time is kinda gay though.

Oh, I agree with you there. A friend of mine often throws these Wii parties that are fun as hell. I even thought of buying a Wii myself, but then I realised I barely play video games on my computer, so there's little reason to believe I'll play them in a proper console.

Yea, I play to socialize, I am joining a organized game with about 40 other people right now. Thats fun.
Schadenfreude
activate the bot fag, because unless they are at your house, you are not socializing.;)

i meant actual human contact here...i know, i know...but they only rape if you want it.

That's an extremely ignorant viewpoint.
While people can and do obsess over video games, it's a bit rough to group an amazingly large part of the human population into this obsessive group like "gamers" are fat pimply nerds that live in their Mums basement and play WoW 24/7.

Why are you still referring to people as "gamers" anyway? It's actually become a derogatory term now

Where exactly did he use the word "gamers"?

And I'd probably agree with Jay. When I was a kid I'd happily spend hours in front of a game on my own, but when I got to about 16 I grew out of that. Now I only really have fun with games when I'm playing multiplayer, whether it's FIFA, PES or Halo.

And let's face it: most games are made for children, and most of them have no depth or worth beyond a few hours of entertainment.

People who take video games seriously are great. They're a gift that never stops giving.

Like this guy:

Oh man, that's great. I've had people threaten to kill or maim me over a computer game probably hundreds of times. I'd imagine threats to hack my computer, report me to the game company, or get me "banned" from the game are probably also in the triple digits. But when someone threatens to report you to their "attorny (sic) general," that's a rare treat.
Fledz
Plenty of people used the word "gamers". I wasn't directing it at him.

I'd disagree that most games are made for children. Video games as an industry now rival the film industry and I believe the average age of those playing video games is possibly the early 30s.

Like you, I too have much less time to play games than when I was a child, but it's a wonderful way to kill a few hours when I do get the chance. When you factor in a good story in a critically acclaimed game, how is the experience any less valid than a good book or a good movie? It's interactive so the argument could be made that it is in fact even more immersive.
