They haven't been marketed at children since the mid-90s, but in terms of content they're still generally very childish.

The actual argument at hand is about whether games can tell a story as well as films or books. You just can't follow a debate properly and got lost in your own points. I got pissy about your awful arguments and your attempts to misrepresent me.

Nou: You're talking about a military-funded game, and you think it affects my argument?
Fledz
I believe they can because I've been just as engrossed in the story of a few of my favourite games as I have with my favourite books and movies. Plus I know many other people who would say that same thing.
Just because you may not have experienced it doesn't mean it won't happen to others.

As for children, well it depends entirely on the game. There's so many variations that it's hard to really start anywhere.

I apologise for throwing out some tangents that led us to where we are, but you were the one that took it down the line of name calling.

I'm an English Lit graduate. I probably have different standards of storytelling excellence to you. Perhaps that makes me pretentious, but I can always back my arguments up with phrases like "diegetic meta-narration".

I didn't get annoyed at your tangents. I got annoyed at your tactics.

Tactics :haha: Let it go, no one is out to get you, especially not me.

I doubt you did it deliberately. You just suck at arguing.

yea like bickering and arguing about all day is such a great skill to have in life. you need to relax already what is stuck up your ass all the time?

god i can't stand people who love to argue about every single thing they can think of just for the sake of arguing. it's especially funny when someone posts a huge paragraph arguing something and then says, "oh i actually agree with you i'm just presenting the other side of the story" lol WHY? WHYYYYYYYYY!!:stongue:

People tend to enjoy doing things they are good at. :-)

on the contrary i think rhetoric/debate is one of the most important social skills to have as an individual, but there's definitely a subtle difference between debating and arguing

Maybe not in your intellectually vacuous existence, but the construction, presentation and defence of a logical argument is a valuable skill for most people.
