no but seriously i've heard a lot of stories about golfers. used to be friends with a pro golfer who turned marketing rep for attorneys (that's how i knew him). he's cool and has even played in tournaments (fundraiser ) with tiger and phil mikelson (sp) and he told me they all do coke n and get down.

as someone who actually has spent time around golfers and played in tournaments (competitive ), I can tell you that your friend was full of it.

You're really defensive when ever the cheating topic comes up. Why so touchy? Did your dad cheat on your mum or is another case of Jenny on her high horse? Dare I say pulling an EOS.

Are you serious? I'd tell them to hit the road even faster, lol. I would expect my partner to be accountable for their actions, not to weasel out of it like a bitch, as you describe. People who make excuses for things tend to be the type of people always ing up...because they're never really making themselves responsible for what they do.

You're not a situationist, Jenny, I'm talking to the people here that disagree with us and are downplaying the importance free-will and personal responsibility and focusing more on situations and circumstances.

No I know. The question/thought was just so ludicrous that I wanted to give an emphatic reply. :gsmile:

With the 'what if' situations I'm mostly playing Devil's Advocate, and partly because I'm curious. I know someone who is in the situation I mentioned, but he doesn't cheat. Its really odd to me.

It may be ludicrous for us, but that's the exact point they're defending, so it's something worth discussing.

See... free-will does play a role. That's what I'm getting at.

There's no excuse.

But he's so miserable... as a friend it actually pains me to see him like that.

It's his choice. He could always leave the relationship, you know?

Easier said than done, I know. But, it's still something he chose for himself and, whether or not he wants to keep living like that... well that is also up to him.
Banora
Thats true, it IS his choice.

Let me see if I got this straight: under certain conditions, you think people are bound to cheat, yet this fact they're hopelessly incapable to avoid would change the way you see them? Out of curiosity, what circumstances are we talking about here?

I think knowing that someone you love has had sex with someone else will eventually tear away at the relationship....I think your sex life would become more awkward if you even have a sex life afterwards. In your heart you may try and forgive the person but its not that easy to get that knowledge out of your head.

As a friend, I'd just make sure to tell him he can change if he wants. Maybe he doesn't even mind the current state of affairs, we never know...
