What? That's like saying Lebron James is bad for basketball, Wayne Gretsky was bad for Hockey, and Michael Phelps is bad for swimming.
How on earth is Woods the worst thing to happen to golf? He has inspired millions of people across the world to start playing the sport. Are you just butthurt because you have to share your local golf course with more people than usual? |

Partly yes. Millions of people taking up the sport who wouldn't have taken it up doesn't necessarily mean its good for the sport.
1. The tiger following golfers don't know golf etiquette which not only is distracting to other golfers but in some cases becomes costly to the golf course.
2. Green fees have sky rocketed due to the demand.
3. All golf coverage is tiger focused, regardless of how well he is doing. I've even heard announcers talking to the winner of tournaments that tiger wasn't in asking if they would have won if tiger was there.
4. There are tiger tournaments and non-tiger tournaments. The tour is loosing sponsorships because Tiger will not golf in certain tournaments. The ones with tiger in them continue to make great money while others are struggling.
5. The circus that follows tiger in tournaments is not only distracting to the other golfers many times people go out of their way to distract the other golfers. |

Certainly, there are idiots who follow all kinds of sports that don't follow the etiquette. Golf is a very fragile sport when it comes to can-do's and can't-do's, most people who follow Tiger have no clue about golf etiquette.
As far as announcers not paying attention to non-tiger tournaments, that's not necessarily true, most golf announcers focus on the leader and the other golfers at the top of the leaderboard, and don't really pay much attention to Tiger if he's doing poorly. Sure they will be like "oh what's up with Tiger" but that will come with any athlete who is considered the best in the world. If Michael Phelps loses to some random ****** in a big meet, you can bet your ass people will be wondering what happened. |

In any tournament that tiger is in you see every single shot he makes...even his one foot putt for bogey. Tiger tee times are set at times that are most beneficial for television audiences.
Tiger is good for tiger and those willing to exploit the tiger name for their benefit. For people who actually love the game of golf, tiger has done nothing to improve the game.
The only possible good thing tiger has done is get golf back into the olympics. Without him golf never would've been seriously considered for the olympics The funny thing is he may not even compete in the olympics, there will be many better and younger golfers from the USA by then. |

| have you heard of the tiger woods gold course that's built in the middle of the arabian desert in dubai? i requires 4 million gallons of water to be pumped on it per day to remain green. the water is desalinated from the sea by coal-fired power making it more expensive than gasoline and contributing to dubai's status as having 3x the carbon footprint of america per capita. tiger woods yall :cool: |
