for me the best systems i experieced was spirt and arc
the music sounded soooooo clear and crisp and i never left there with my ears ringing |
Yeah well when I see JP Addict, it sends me into rage. This isn't NCC, don't get it twisted lol. Pacha's system is ok, there were some obvious problems when Paco and Victor played. The Funktion-One is very powerful so yes, you could leave with ringing ears. I regret not investing in ear plugs sooner but I recently was fitted after reading what not taking care of your ears has done to some active party people. Funny you mentioned Arc, when it was Vinyl/Shelter, I would sit on the speakers, same system and now my hearing is messed.
Read info here on ear plugs, a good investment http://www.facebook.com/reqs.php#!/...74730026?ref=ts |

I haven't been to Love yet but surely missed many great shows there :-/
I would have to agree that Cielo has a great system. But I was Santos and the sound system there was pretty nice also for a medium sized club... |

I've never been to Cielo, alas (damn you, age limits!) but I use earplugs at pretty much every party-- mine are Etymotics: cheap, reusable, don't muffle the sound at all, and I never have ringing ears afterward. whee.
My experience with Roseland didn't really leave a huge impression on me. I know little to nothing about their sound system, but that notwithstanding, not sure about that place's acoustics... |

Pacha's and Love's are very good, no complaints here. Santos' is very good as well. So glad they have edm parties there now. Found an article talking about the sound system there, I don't know enough about club sound systems but this sounds good.
| quote: | | Popular New York City club Santos Party House now features an advanced sound system designed and integrated by TimbreTech Audio Services, and based around a Soundcraft Vi6 board at FOH that is easily locked off and run remotely via a laptop in the DJ booth. The board was spec'd by Jim Toth. At monitors is a Soundcraft Vi4 running six JBL SRX 712M 12-inch wedges powered by Crown XTI 6000 Series amps. The P.A. comprises JBL VerTec VT4887DP Series line array elements with VT4880 subs. Toth's use of the loudspeakers allowed him to set the level and EQ of each cabinet individually, a requirement as the room hosts DJ/club and live performances, as well as other events. The dance system sees a 24-foot horizontal array of custom-designed speakers that span the length of the room and deliver even coverage. Each five-way features 24-inch and 15-inch drivers in a line spaced with minimal interference or cone filtering; bass is supplied by the same JBL VerTec VT4888 subs. Power is via Crown I-Tech 4000/8000 amps with built-in DSP. “The coverage of this system is amazing. It has power, consistency and control that helps set the personality of the club,” says Ron Castellano, owner of the club. “There is nothing raw about it; instead, it's very hi-fi and sophisticated, but there's massive power there if the DJ needs to accelerate!” |

| I've never heard anything quite as loud as Santos' system... It's probably not better than Cielo's, Pacha's, or Love's, but the sound guy is crazy enough to stress to the max I think... I felt it in my bones haha... |

My preference is Funktion One and Phazon.
Funktion One:
Cielo
Phazon:
Twilo
Shelter (which had Twilo's original system)
Roxy
Arc
etc....
Santos' system:
Main floor live music system:
Ten JBL Vertec 4888 and two 4887 line array speakers
Four JBL Vertec 4880 Ultra Sub Woofers
Six JBL STX 812 monitor wedges
Four VRX 915 monitor wedges
Soundcraft Vi6 digital mixing console
Soundcraft Vi4 digital monitor mixing console
Main floor disco system:
110 separate TAD drivers, housed in 22 custom built tri amped boxes, powered by 20 Crown I-Tech Amps, totaling 150,000 watts.
Loud is an understatement... especially considering the amount of equip compared to the size of the actual room.

I remember the Tunnel being about as loud as Santos.
Pacha's system:
German Imported Dynacord Alpha concept speaker system with 15 powerful subwoofers flanking the floor, embedded under the DJ booth, and encased underneath the grand staircase. Designed by Miami's Infinite audio.
Built for bass.... |

Trust me it's more than ok. My ratings are harsh in comparison to most :p Please don't ask me what I think of other clubs hahaha
Anyway yea, I would say that Roseland is about my 2nd or 3rd favorite venue in NYC, it is definitely worth checking out. I really can't say I have ever had a bad time there ;) |
