My HD2 will last me the next 12 months, then I will most probably move over to Android with whatever is similar to the HTC Supersonic at that time.

As much as I have enjoyed WM over the years, niggles included, WP7S looks like total and utter fail.

Get an iPhone 3GS and they release a new one after.
Get an HD2 and they will release an HD3.

You're always going to be ed because there's always something better.
At least we can be happy that all of the smartphones are actually pretty damn good. None of them are because they all do quite a load of things, but nobody is ever happy because there's something better out there.

I love my N97 :D

I guess I'm not a 'hardcore' smartphone user, but it ing rocks, IMO.

Oh it's a great phone but it's still buggy as all hell, the processor is abysmal and the response time is terrible when you compare it to something like the iPhone. Nokia ed up bad. I wish I'd known the N900 was coming out, I would have waited.

I guess you're in more of a hurry than I am :p

N900 looks cool as though.

I can get 3G with it because I'm with T-Mobile (USA) and live in an HSPA+ market. It also supports 3G on 900/2100 though for you European/non-North American folk though. I believe they may release an 850/1900 version of it for your Rogers, Bell, Telus, Telcel, Movistar, & AT&T users if this one performs well. Remember the N900 is the 1st Nokia tablet with a phone in it as well & the 1st Maemo device being marketed more to the mainstream as opposed to the earlier iterations.

Main difference from N97 is faster CPU and the open source Maemo OS which might be competing with Android. I believe Maemo is a modified Debian, allow you to hypothetically do many many things with it.

The N97 runs the old Symbian S60 (5th Edition) which is now being called Symbian ^1 because Nokia is remaking that OS (new versions are called ^2, ^3, & ^4) for new devices coming out.

wrong thread boobee

just an FYI

The only correct way to pluralize "BlackBerry" is "BlackBerry smartphones"
BlackBerries, Blackberry's, and BlackBerrys are all incorrect.

Straight from RIM's branding guidelines.

I dont know why i keep on reading about the WP7S as every new feature they proudly announce is a slap in the face (or a kick in the balls more likely) of old users. Ive already commented on no multitasking, but here is something equaly outrageous.

Microsoft just mentioned in a Q&A session here at MIX10 in no uncertain terms that clipboard operations won't be supported on Windows Phone 7 Series... so that's that. Kind of ironic considering that the WinMo of old has been enjoying the functionality since time immemorial, isn't it? Of course, anything is possible going forward -- they've said on several occasions in different talks and sessions this week that they're already looking at a number of enhancements that were scoped out of the initial release of the platform -- but for the phones you buy this holiday season, don't expect to be copying anything between apps.

Update: We just super-double-ultra-plus-confirmed this with Microsoft -- Windows Phone 7 Series will not have copy and paste functionality. There is a data-detection service built into the text-handling API that will recognize phone numbers and addresses, but Microsoft says most users, including Office users, don't really need clipboard functionality. We... respectfully disagree? Sure, let's leave it at that.

Seriously...office users dont need clipboard functionality? Seriously? The guys at engadget might be ok with respectfully disagreeing, i want the people responsible for these atrocities hung, quatered and drowned...in acid! I simply have no words to describe the disaster WP7S is going to be when it is released...

next iPhone?

quote:
Well what do you know about this? With all those rumors flying around that the iPhone 4G we'd spotted was no more than a Japanese knock-off of an Apple product, it was starting to look like this thing was too good to be true. That is until one of the Engadget editors spotted what seems to be solid proof that this is -- in fact -- the next iPhone. If you'll recall, the night before the iPad was revealed, we had leaked shots of the device from what appeared to be an Apple test lab. Upon further inspection of these pictures today, the aforementioned editor discovered that the new iPhone 4G we've just gotten photos of is actually sitting on the table beside the iPad prototype! Imagine how blown our minds were when we realized we have had a photo of the next iPhone for months! As you can see in the pic above, the left side of the new device is clearly visible on this table in the upper right hand corner, and since we believe that these photos come directly from an Apple testbed, it's hard to deny that the phone you've just seen is in fact the real deal. Not only that, but we suspect that the device on the tablet itself is also a version of the new phone (you can see what looks like aluminum along the bottom) which seems to be housed in some type of iPhone 3G-like case.

Additionally, a source -- who confirms this is the next Apple iPhone -- also tells us that the device apparently does have a higher res screen on-board, a front-facing camera, a higher resolution camera with flash, and takes MicroSIM cards (that's the little "button" around the side you see in the TwitPic which is floating around the internet). We're working on uncovering more info, but right now you can take a look at the proof above for yourself, and in the gallery below.

Engadget believes so http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/18/iphone-4g-proof/
