better than doing nothing at all. i'll repeat Yohans question from earlier..........what exactly have you DONE aside from bitching about supposed world problems on a dance music internet forum? |
You're right, it is better than doing nothing at all. Does that mean that they, or anyone else, shouldn't do more if they have the capacity to do so?
And I'm not here to quantify my good deeds. I believe someone already started a thread for that in this forum. |

Wow, you don't care about people fundamental rights? And go even further to generalize protesters as pot smokers. Good one. You think that we don't know that protesting does dick all, unfortunately its the only thing we can do. Its better to do something then nothing.
I can understand your frustration, i would be pissed too if they disrupted my life for a bunch of rich corrupt bankers and government officials. If it was up to me there would be no "free speech" zone and we would be allowed to go to the convention centre (not inside obviously). |
yes, sorry, to go back to this point.
i do care about fundamental rights, human rights and equality for all. what i don't care for is what is going to actually happen here in toronto. the G20 will be used as an excuse for many different types of protests and it's not going to be pretty. of course these protests are not going to stay where they are supposed to. the activists already made statements that they are not willing to be cornered off. don't worry, there will be mass disruptions everywhere. not only that but we are going to get two opposing views, the protesters will blame the police for violence and police will blame the protestors for violence. it will be a circle of kaos. |

Nice that Starbucks' own website makes them out to be ethical and caring, and while I'm sure they're making surface efforts (wow, a whole 4.1% reduction in the 6 million gallons of water they've been accused of wasting every day!), it's the consumer buying into that image that's a big part of the problem. |

Who are you to say that small, conscious changes in one's personal habits and choices don't count for anything? |
Are you not the person who said that even the small things count? And starbucks does FAR more than a 4.1% reduction... Read a bit more and be a bit open minded. Yes what they do is a great marketing leverage, but that doesnt take away from the fact that they make great contributions to their environment, communities, 3rd world nations...
There is a HUGE demand for coffee... corporations are needed to fill this demand... I PRAISE ANY company who can do so while be socially responsible... and corporations are entitled to a profit.
ps. I don't really like the starbucks product... but I am a huge advocate of their CSR |

The Khmer Rouge thought what they were doing was right too... |
Comparing G20 protestors to The Khmer Rouge is a bit of a stretch. :p |

just as all of us don't have to list our good deeds, he doesn't have to either. just don't assume that others are not doing their part. |
