what culture does black electronic music actually have that these super awesome black artists haven't fed off the older culture? has john coltrane risen from the grave to record a sick sax on a 4/4 track? everyone feeds off their inspirations. if it wasn't for the past, these super underground kung fu face off dj's/producers wouldn't exist

ugh man, i respect you, your love for this music but it seems sometimes it goes too far dude.
but why would the guys you mention go to such extensive lengths as you to defend this subject? like they're ing in any way as important as their predecessors were. it's like the time i used the word ethnic in a radioslave thread to describe sound and you freaked saying you hate people calling a certain sound 'ethnic'. yet it was just metaphorical. that's what i believe shlomi was doing
it's all about music, always has been, always will be. i'm just so sick of this racial culture thing. i love black music, white, asian, alien, c*nt, serial killer manson acoustic music. why does it matter so much to you? why does electronic black inspired culture mean so much to you?

it moves most of the people who posted in this thread too. why don't we just reserve the music to the true black faces making the music, reject all metaphors and references to the 'culture'. leave that to those who were part of the chicago and detroit movement, ones who supposedly know what soul means as if it has a formula. power to the people. anyone that isn't part of that elite super group of detroit or chicago shall be crucified. my following album art will be a black child baby resembling miles davis with a hair wig on a cross, holding a bootleg record in his hand whilst john coltrane plays a sax version of ave maria beside him and nina simone cries as mary while malcolm x preaches the Lords word to secure his place in heaven. but the music will be snap rap, featuring lil wayne, with a 60's/70's sample here and there

but since you bring it up, because i tend to appreciate originality, chances are if i thought a record was great, it would be more original, in which case there would probably not be much to talk about in the way of ripping off any artists, regardless of race. |
