If thats the case I think Shlomi Aber falls squarely outside of that. :p Based on his track record (no pun intended), I'd say he is more of a thieving con artist looking to make a jet-set living off of the backs of detroit and chicago musicians because it's in vogue.

The painfully obvious point here is that house music is a uniquely American invention that people have gone absolutely bananas over in Europe. Same thing happened with jazz.
The reason I made the cheeky self-quote/response is because I accidentally played that Acumen track while djing a very drunk afterparty in st petersburg at 11am and this euro babe went totally bananas over my set. She mentioned a few times that it was a cool sample as we hung out over the next bunch of days ...
In general I agree, including some "black" vocal is a pathetic way to make a track "cool" and it bothers me that it's happening so much now. However, suggesting that Europe doesn't have an obsession with synthesizing American culture is ridiculous. We can have this discussion if you want J but I'd recommend you take a moment to think about it before getting in too deep :tongue3

Well obviously it does, but the music we're discussing in this thread isn't remotely New Age, is it? New Age appropriates Native American culture, but it also appropriates Celtic, Tibetan, Indian, African and countless other cultures.

House and jazz are not "references", are they? It's not like house music is hugely popular dance music because it makes people think of America.
