in response to nefardec I'd say you don't really understand the european house thing. it isn't authentic in the same way as the american scene, but it's very groovy and people love it. the chicago/detroit thing is a bit of a joke in my perception. no need to go too far into this ... the makam track "the hague soul" has a funny explanation for me |

despite all that it's still in very poor taste for european producers to reference detroit, chicago, nyc, and especially black culture in their song titles
basically I agree with nefardec as usual but if you know these people a bit it seems that they are just making an unfortunate joke |

i'm not taking sides here as i can understand and agree with both standpoints but
i DO think that making a track "black" is becoming so common and associated with "cool" that it's become unnaturally forced. typical deep house/tech house track with a black monologue layered over the top is so ing cliche.
does anyone remember that one track that was top 10 beatport back in like, 2007? it was totally cringe-worthy. went something like this-
"white people- turn up the treble. black people- turn up the bass." over and over again. in black-person voice. UUUUUNNNGGGHHH!!! |
