that doesn't matter in the burbs.
how you have someone running a city that they don't even effing live in is beyond me. etobicoke is not toronto. |
Lol what? This is a load of . Living in Etobicoke makes me just as much of a Torontonian as anyone else that lives in this city is. I pay the same taxes everyone else in the city does and I use the same services that everyone else does. This entitles me and anyone else that lives in my area to have a voice in this city. Be it by voting for whomever we see fit to represent us in City Council or having the right to run for Mayor & office.
And how exactly were we moving towards being a world class city under the prior leadership? And to further that who exactly was supposed to lead us to becoming a world class city? The Miller like stooges and fanboys that lost tonight? Please. Yeah because we were going really far with that "progressive" leadership as evidenced by the fact at how great our city currently is thanks to the leadership we have had in office.
Newsflash, people are sick of Miller and the Miller-type cronies that have been running the city for years. It's time to give someone else with a different outlook on the way the city should be run a chance, because the way it has been run over the course of the course of the last decade or so has not done the city and it's inhabitants any service. If anything, i'd lean towards disservice. There was absolutely no point in electing someone that would only further the Miller like agenda.
Good on Ford for winning. |

This really is f'ing embarrassing. Even Calgary is starting to look more progressive than us. I guess pigs really can fly. |
Yeah I guess if he was up on the winners podium kissing his husband, holding up his adopted African child he'd seem alot more progressive then he is. |

I'm disappointed that Rossi, my fav choice dropped out...but I really can't understand why people are hating so hard on Ford for...Toronto has seen worse....nobody can be as bad as Lastman was....noooooobody...
I'm willing to give porky a chance. Anyone who opposes McGuinty is alright in my books. |

Hey it's only fair. I mean for how many years have Torontonians had to endure all the left wing douchebaggery we have had to endure? I'm actually really surprised that it's taken this long for Torontonian's to stand up against it. |

What a shame. As a recent immigrant (have you ever asked yourself, 'why do so many people like to come to our city, when it is supposedly falling apart?'), Torontonians don't realise how good they have got it (my only ongoing gripe tends to be the clampdowns on nightclubs and the draconian alcohol laws!); instead, they seem to have let their disproportionate anger/fear get the better of their objective decision-making, aided and abetted by Ford's cynical campaign.
Based on many independent surveys and rankings, by such respected independent bodies as the OECD and The Economist, Toronto IS ALREADY a world-class city. Of course, no city should rest on its laurels and take things for granted, and Toronto has not been ignoring its weaknesses. How do you think Toronto, London, New York, Sydney and Paris became such vibrant, dynamic and modern cities? The answer is by looking to constantly make progress and improve, i.e., by being PROGRESSIVE; otherwise, they would still be stuck in the Dark Ages! It is a POSITIVE approach, that is balanced, as it recognises strengths, whilst improving on weaknesses.
In contrast, Ford seems to be advocating less of a Kaizen-type, careful, incremental approach to changes, but a veritable revolution. For goodness sake, if you already have a great city, surely it should be more a case of tinkering, than throwing the baby out with the bath water! For a leading city such as Toronto, there was no need to elect someone as radical as Ford. I just hope that the experiment does not cause too much damage. |

Toronto has been ignoring things like transportation for decades. Its strangling the life out of us. Ford is going to bring subways and better traffic flow.
The "progressives" were rule happy, bylaw happy, and tax happy. All very regressive if you ask me.
Its time to clean out city hall to repair the damage and make way for a true moderate in 4 years. |
