Ancient aliens is plausible, albeit highly unlikely. If we inhabit a planet, then chances are another planet in this giingnormous universe is also inhabited. If we have the capability of traveling to other planets. Then I'm sure some other species also has that capability. However, Jesus Christ is not god. There is no logic in assuming that.

Do you understand even the basic physics of space travel?

While obviously we are limited by the speed of light, at least as far as we understand physics currently, there’s still the theoretical option of wormholes/space folding that people much smarter than me like to talk about. I don’t buy it for obvious reasons, but that’s the option for anyone claiming aliens have been visiting us.

Yes, but that doesn't mean that some other species doesn't understand the basic physics of space travel. If you're about to say that no one can visit Earth based on your understanding of the basic physics of space travel, then you're obviously missing the point that your view is limited on your brain's capacity with the given information provided today.

If I don't understand how to breathe underwater, does that mean that no other species knows how to breathe underwater?

BOO YAH CHECK MATE.

And this is why I think it's more logical than Christianity. Obviously I'm not saying it's logical, but it is more so than Christianity. Aliens visiting us is loosely based off of logical plausible concepts while Christianity is a complete fairy tale based off of nothing observable.

As for the speed of light, perhaps aleins with a lifespan several thousand times greater than ours had the luxury of visiting us. Again I highly doubt it. But there's certainly no such thing as Jesus Christ as the Lord your Savior.

That's almost exactly what Christians say about the nature of God. Hence my point. You do realise that it cannot be ruled out that God is real and merely exists in a physical aspect of reality the human brain cannot directly comprehend, and so it must be conceptualised for us in the stories of the Bible?

It's no more logical to say aliens could have an understanding of reality currently beyond our conception than it is to say God exists on a level of reality currently beyond our conception.

While I wouldn’t rule out super amazing alien technology that can create wormholes or similar, I stop far short from saying they came here and did stuff like built the pyramids. I also don’t think that we can consider wormholes “logical, plausible” concepts until we’ve actually seen one in action. cosmologists probably disagree with me, but they’ve come up with a fair amount of weird science that turned out silly.

I hope they packed travel scrabble.

so an acid trip is all you need for 'proof' that there is a god?

:wtf:

Actually, I've read an author make this exact claim (though the word he used wasn't really "God"). Still, I wanted to kill myself.

This. While sentient alien life is probable considering the odds, the likelihood of such life visiting us is all but impossible. The problem with people that believe that an extraterrestrial life form could drop by and visit us is that they have no sense of scale whatsoever. They simply cannot conceive how was and empty space actually is.

If we just take the narrowest look at our won solar system, from the sun to Pluto (though the solar system is much, much larger than that, but most people think of that when you say solar system), the distance we are looking at is about 5,913,520,000 km. So, even at light speed, the theoretical maximum speed one can possibly achieve it takes five and a half hours to travel trough the solar system. Contrast that with the widely held belief (even among the otherwise educated folk) that at light speed it would take barely a moment to travel that distance and you start to see why people still hold on to belief that alien visitors are likely. 4,3 years travel between us and the nearest star seems like a reasonable trip. Then you need to explain that 4,3 years is just the nearest star, travelling to a solar system with intelligent life could very well take, decades, centuries or even longer.
So unless sometime in the future, we do come up with the means of travel that is not just slightly, but by a factor of at least a thousand faster than the speed of light, travelling and colonising other solar systems will sadly be all but feasible.

Still more probable than god though.
